If you havent read TH's post about the Combat BalanceI suggest you visit the Dev Tracker and read up on it. He spoke of getting community feedback for the Combat Balance and that very soon he will be working with the entire community to get feedback on the profession and work on what they want to see.
Wouldnt it be good to already have something in the works to show TH?
As I see it right now TKA's are the speed demons of the melee professions. Were the most rounded of the four. Our damage isnt the best and is limited at the moment to one damage type. Thats our drawback. We have incredible DPS and the ability to target each of the 3 pools. Our meditate ability is highly sought after by all the other professions. We can heal our bleeds, poisons, diseases, and even our wounds. We get an ability to self buff and to get up after an incap.
Fencers are on the defensive side of the professions. They get the highly sought after dodge mod, and great state defenses. Theyre somewhat fast with their weapons, but their DPS is nothing really to brag about. They have bleeds and specific pool attacts to the health pool. While not the best tanks they do get a lot of melee and ranged defense.
Swordsman are great damage dealers. Their DPS rivals that of the TKA. They get bleeds and specific pool attacks to the mind pool, the only pool that cant effectively be healed. Their defenses arent the best ever, but they do make very good melee tanks.
Pikeman get nice DOT weapons. Their defenses are moderately rounded with attacks and bleeds specific to the action pool. Their electricity lanced give them a nice damage alternative in PvE, and in PvP theyre quite good duelers.
Now, what would you like changed about the TKA? Should we remain fast, or should we be focused more on defense? Should we have more damage or should we be more focused on wounding our targets IE bleeds?
Ill try to break down the TKA into different aspects so itll be easier to read and to discuss.
Speed
TKA dont wield big bulky swords. Therefore it would make sense to have a fast attack. Our fists will travel a lot faster than a big pike swinging through the air. Its just simple logic that TKA should be the fastest of the melee professions. When ranked it should look like this.
TKA > Fencer > Swordsman > Pikeman
Damage
Lets face it. If you get hit with a punch, youre going to hurt, but when you get hit with a sword youre going to hurt a lot more. In the damage area I feel that the TKA would be more balanced as one of the weaker damage dealing classes. To make up for this though we have our speed meaning we should be on the higher end of the DPS scale. Bottom line is that swordsdo moredamage than fists. When ranked I feel it should look like this.
Swordsman > Pikeman > Fencer > TKA
State Defenses
Martial artits train themselves to have great reflexes. Im not saying that TKA should get the dodge mod. But instead state defenses. TKA have to work on balance techniques, in fact one of our trees is called "balance" to me that means some defenses against dizzy, knockdown, and posture change. Not insane defenses, but enough to justify the martial artist quota. When ranked I feel it should look like this.
Fencer >TKA > Pikeman> Swordsman
Toughness
Every melee class gets a thoughness value when wielding their weapons. TKA as of right now get a very high toughness value. It fits in with a martial artist training their bodies to withstand pain. Pikeman would get great strength from wielding their big weapons, same with Swordsman. Fencers are a special case, while their swords would toughen their bodies it wouldnt be a lot, but because they dont wield a bulky weapon theyre able to avoid a lot of attacks. TKA's on the other hand spend their time toning their bodies to be in peak physical condition, Fencers I personally feel would work more on sword techniques. When ranked it should look like this.
TKA > Pikeman > Swordsman > Fencer.
These are just my personal thoughts to get our input on what wed like to see happen for the TKA. Naturally my ideas dont reflect everyone here. Thats why anyone who wants to get some inertia going as to what kind of profession youd like TKA to be should post here.
