Ok so tortons and faambas kite, hard. They stay at about 9m so they are out of range but can still hit you. Is this old? New? Was it supposed to be fixed? Am I about to be flamed? hehe...

And I don't fight probots anymore. If my mission spawns with a probot or med droid, I abort it immediately. They stay fixed at about 20m whether Iadvance or retreat. Bah. I fought a probot for an hour and 45 minutes the other day and it finally killed me.

You know those big elephant things on Dantooine? They tend to stay just out of reach when they attack. I can't recall the name, but there's herd leaders and overprotective mothers or some darn thing. Pretty irritating.

the best way around it is to not chase them, but slowly advance to 8m, which is usually the range you can hit them from. They will retreat to 9m if you close in fast to 4m or so, but if you walk from 9 to 8m, they will very slowly retreat without going completely out of range.

It's because of their collision detection boxes which are causing them to struggle to find the optimium distance, this often leads them out of a players melee range but will able ot hit them. It's actually a bug that needs to be corrected but needs someone to go around checking to see what enemies do it and altering their collision boxes.

it may be a bug, but it's actually quite sensible. All they're doing is attacking at their optimal range, also making sure you can't hit them. What about players kiting animals or melee players? Is that also a bug because they're out of your range? hell no, it's smart, so why shouldn't creatures who are able to do it?

I'm fair sure it's a bug, all animals are supposed to have their optimum ranges at around 3m. Just that certain mobs with long bodies have trouble because of where their head is compared to their bodies. Recall that with each hit the game draws a line to connect with there the hit is supposed to land, sometimes with the long body animals those lines are drawn more than 5m away from the attacker to the target. It's the same issue as why pets are running back and forth sometimes as they try to find their optimum range.
