Do not take this as a NERF TK! thread, just hear me out and flame if said before.

I have absolutely NO problem with TKM being dominant PVPers, however i do have a problem with the ease of the profession. I am striving for MBH and had to master to skills to get there, and I am working on the Investigation XP which is taking along time. Now, my brother, decides he wants to go TK and i check the prerequisites(sp?) and im appauled that they only have to do unarmed???

He has already mastered it and my BH is coming slower than ever with droids. Now, with a profession thats harder to master and takes TONS of skill points, shouldnt we be better?

I dont mind getting owned by TK's as long as it takes them just as long and hard work to master as BH

/endrant

the requirements for bh are more to blame than teras kasi. i think its important that teras kasi is a dabbleable profession. the meditation line should be relatively available to all. this is one of the main reasons i dont think teras kasi is overpowered. swg is a skills based game, not class based, and this is an important distinction. unfortunately, the developers have never really gotten the correct mix for a balanced skill based game.

the real problem here is with bounty hunter, which requires 217 skill points to master, effectively making it a class. and for too little return i might add. bh would be the powerhouse its supposed to be if it only included an appropriate amount of defenses.

bh was the first profession i mastered, well, after marksman and scout i suppose. took me several months, with the investigation line being by far the most time consuming. but this was before player cities and vehicles. and more ram and a better graphics card. its a lot easier now.

on a side note, i never used to believe that the bh missions were really that much of a gift. in retrospect, theyare one of thebest thingsthis game has had to offer. its built in content for your profession. something almost all other combat classes lack. enjoy it while it lasts.

let me ask you one thing

have u levelled unarmed 1-4 and novice teras kasi yourself?

if not, then you dont realise how much of a grind it is, its nothing compared to doing BH but its certainly not as easy your making it out to be

Why is everyone hung upon how many skill points they spend.
Just because you spend 217 point doesn’t mean you are the best.
With those 217 points come special bonuses.
Bounty Hunter is a very specified profession. They don’t craft they don’t tame pets they don’t take part in wars they don’t heal etc. They hunt bounties. They are not supposed to be able to do the same thing as a Rifleman or a Chef or a TKA.
If someone spends more points than you do, does that mean they should be better than you?
I think not.

As for the grind to TKA was the easiest thing I’ve ever done.
If you start out fresh, no money no nothing it will be hard but so will everything else be.
If you do have money just buy some vk’s some armor and get buffs.

So if I spend 8 months to master TK and you spend 6 months Mastering BH.

Does that mean that I should be better than the BH?

Since I spent more time?

Hold on just one second here, how can one person say that one profession takes longer than another to master without basing it on some definate statistics? That is probably the biggest assumption I have ever heard..

You play at your rate, gaining experience in your levels as you can.. I play at my rate..Whats to say that if you started a Bounty Hunter andI started aTKA going at the same time, playing for six hours a day, seven days a week for a year that at the the end of it you would have some kind of relation between the two ?

I could start , and then go to the bathroom.. One person could start but then need to leave the PC for a while. One person could be ready to play, but due to the fact they are grouped it takes them much longer to get to a target, kill and gain exp. One person could simply not understand how to play the game properly, and the other people who do gain a head start.. All these factors and alot more go into "how much time" it takes to master a profession, and without you clocking in and clocking out like you would do at work and measuring the ammount of kills and exp gained, you have no real basis for comparison from one character to the next or even one characters profession to his own next profession.. Time.. Pah!

I tried BH and am now trying TKA ...I can't tell which took longer, but it certainly feels like TKA at this point.

Sir Isaac Newton declared that "Absolute, true and mathematical time, of itself and from its own nature, flows equably without relation to anything external."

I'm not much of the pvp'er but if you're even decent pvp'er no tka will win you, stay out of range and shoot to death. You have master scout to back up the burst run speedand terrain negotiation. For the xp part yes BH is taking lot longer But you're mastering 3 professions not just one and investigation line is still a pain. Quite doable nowadays as I watched friend to do it.

And if you start to compare what tka can do and you can't, tka have ability to umm kill and meditate. You can kill, have jedi bounties, normal bh missions, master scout to hunt and earn creds with harvesting. tka fella of course can take master scout and other skills but if you compare prof vs. prof what they have to offer then BH clearly wins.

If I was HC pvp'er I'd definetly would not only be tka if at all least pistoleer/smuggler dirty fighting line to back up range, that just me.

its not that hard to see that it requires much more effort to master bounty hunter than teras kasi. ive done both, i should know. gaming style, time on task, and all that other stuff would affect the time it takes to master any profession, even two people trying to master the same prof. ultimately, time taken to master on an individual basis is irrelevant.

what is relevant is the number of skill boxes required to master a profession. it requires more skill points to become aNOVICE bh (including two masteries) than it does to MASTER teras kasi. this is a significant difference which demonstrates the obvious fact that mastering bounty hunter is more time consuming/harder than mastering teras kasi. oh, and then theres the investigation line. i probably mastered teras kasi in less time than i spent just waiting for droid updates and shuttles. that being said, i did enjoy the content end of bh quite a bit. i wish tk had more content.

can anyone here honestly say they can master BH faster than TK? and for the scout/burst run thing, ummm TKs have MORE Thans enough SP left over to master TK and burst run right back... The Combat is not the hard part at all, but the investigation line seems like the slowest XP in the game to me

Bounty Hunters have THE most content in the game. That is why you spend the extra points. Also if you dont like BH or find it too hard I hear Coronet is a lil short on non-afk dancers.

SkoT9 this not directed at you soley...just any BH whiner that uses the TK forum to complain.
