I am planning on having a Teras kasi Tournament on our server.
However, since I have no experience in this form of fighting I need some input before planning this tournament.
Should I allow Buffs?
If no buffs, then can you tell if someoneIS buffed?
Should I make different categories?
Should I make different categories?
No healing?
Maybe allow one heal during the fight?
What else? The main thing I am unsure of the Buffs and weather or not to allow these.
thanks

hiya,
neat idea, hehe. i'm not on your server but maybe i give some input anyways^^
to buff or not to buff
buffs have nothing to do with skill - so i recommend no buffs.
to make sure someone is not buffed - kill and rez.
(btw - nice place for the tournament is Theed in front of starport)
about healing
one heal per fight sounds fair to me BUT no boost !!
just kidding
)
what else
maybe now armor and no knockdown

I agree no armor or knockdown. Good ideas. Not sure we should kill everyone before the tournament though... heh

uhm am i missing something if its a tkm tourney they all have the same skills... So without buffs..Without heals..Without armor.. What sets them apart? If i ever held a tkm tourney it would be all out buff if you want pb heal just whatever. limiting someones skills is stupid and useless. Buffs armor attacks and when to use them is what makes the people good.

Good point... may be easier to allow buffs but noarmor, and no heals. Otherwise it could take forever for someone to win.

disagree here. it needs some skills from the guy at the keyboard to fight w/o buffs and armor.
you don't want someone to win because he was lucky to get like 300 more health.
i suggest no buffs no armor
will be interesting

tkm tourney, ill be there
TKA can already 'buff' themselves by using powerboost.

The best and most tense fights are when you need to be on your toes at all times, not when you can go and grab a cup of coffee, come back and have 500 of your 3500 health removed.
buffs also negate the HAM costs of special moves, while that's also part of strategy to keep in mind.
My suggestion:
-no buffs (kill and rez, you won't suffer decay if you're rezzed)
-no armour
-no heals during the fight
-powerboost is fine (it's a TKA skill in a TKA tournament)
-Force of Will is fine (same deal, a skilled fighter may be able to DB before the other can FoW, if not, the fight simply ain't over yet)
-ONLY one succesfulKD move in the fight (KD1-2 and Lunge2 count as KD moves) (to avoid the ol' whoever gets the first hit in wins. Now people can get up and keep fighting. Otherwise they will be KD'd again once they get up and never stand another chance, purely because they had a ping of 2ms higher)
-all other TKA moves may be used at will.
I believe this will result not just in completely fair fights relying purely on the player's strategy, but also make sure the disadvantages (be they little for TKMs) influence the strategy like the devs intended to. Otherwise all you'll get is one TKM getting the first dizzy-KD in, then pounding away with UH3 over and overbecause it costs 3 HAM that regenerates in 0.1 seconds.

also another thing chiana. Youll want to decide between allowing vk's or not.

sounds like fun.
i say allow powerboosting, no buffs, and beyond that you really have to take into account what someone is OTHER than tkm. as a tkm/fencer, ones defense mods are going to be much higher than a tkm only. if a tkm is also pistoleer, they will be even harder to kd. i guess im saying to be careful of the silent, non-tkm skills that will come into play.
i recommend skills classes, similar to weight classes in boxing. if you have enough entries, divide them up into divisions based on similar templates while limiting active skills to only tka. then, you will have division champs and then can have another set of matches for overall champ.
the true spirit of competition comes out not when one opponent seriously dominates another, but when opponents meet on a level playing field. this is the true test of the art.

It wouldnt really make a difference for me if you couldnt heal because I would be using head hit anyways.

I fail to see how two teras kasi masters can distinguish themselves When you have THE EXACT i mean the same damn skills as the other... If you add in armor and vks and stuff it really takes some mental thought... What armor peices shall i wear the HAM costs blah blah blah.. Buffs are a bad idea. Its so stupid its like taking two carbineers giving them the exact same everything and say go.. Its whoever gets the lukiest. We all know everyones gunna end up using kd and ua3.
