fencer/swordsman/pikeman while fighting unarmed? or do they only take effect when you are fighting with the weapon from the profession they are from?

the passive modifiers only work with the weapons they are tied to, dodge-pistols, 1h swords; counterattack-2h swords, carbines; block-pikes and rifles, if you arent holding the weapon the modifiers dont work, however the ranged or melee defense will stack and work.
