Thread: My first PVP fight as TKM

As a Master Doc I provided myself with some decent buffs. Lowest was stamina at 2100. Rest were 2200-2300.

Popped the second Brandy, a thatkillo (sp?), and a vercupti had muon and pixie hotkeyed

I donated points from Health and Action to the mind pools early in the profession as I quickly learned the common source of TKA incaps.

So to the back of the Coronet cantina I go decked out in my new comp stun armor and buffed to the nines. Got my brandy etc. I declare and check the map for reds...none.

As I am leaving the front of the Cantina a red speck of hostility appeared on my radar. My first PVP battle was impending.

I make my way west from the cantina to get away from the populace. It wasnt so much to reduce the collateral damage as it was to reduce the lag of it all.

Suddenly the music cues and for a second there my pulse actually jumped up a couple notches.

As I stopped my run and turned around to face my enemy my mind raced anticipating which style of combat my foe would be bringing.

To my soon to be extinguished joy the title read Master Fencer. I thought, "I have stun armor F this guy Hes mine!". As I completed the thought I found myself looking up at the blue Corelliean sky. Wack! Wack! Wack! My health bar starts to dip as does my mind pool as I patiently repeat my healstate get your arse up macro.

Finally I make it to my feet as my Foe wails away at my dome. Now its my turn to hit him w some TK style. As my Ham bar is quickly replenished with any heal (love those stim E's) I was back up to full strength minus a smidge of mind.

To his back he goes with a nice combo of blind stun dizzy KD UA3 (times 10 or so). As he makes it to his feet his ham bar shoots to full and we find ourselves at a near standstill.

Suddenly it all goes wrong. Standing toe to toe I delivered state dealing blows as I took state dealing shots as well but my heal states macro was not keeping up with the rate at which i was getting hit and he was not dropping to the ground despite being intimidated blind stunned and dizzy. My mind pool starts to drain steadily despite my patience and not spamming wildly as he attacks. In desperation I pop the muon and the mind carnage lessens. As we still remain standing I get some damage to stick on his Health and Action bars that isnt actually healed in one try. Suddenly another Glowing Red Dot of angst appears from the direction of the cantina and my mind bar goes buh bye. Im not even sure the Fencer db'd me i think it was the rifleman.

I know now that I should have used canipe and the Unarmed spice that gives u more damage. My knuckler is like 46-170 w no powerup on it, and Im a trandoshan who uses COB, warcry, intimidate, and regeneration with regularity.

So there it is. All the humbling gory details. Feel free to post your thoughts, experience, critiques (be gentle), etc.

I had fun. I lasted alot longer than my Master Bounty Hunter Wookiee alt usually does in PVP so that was gratifying.

Well, if it was you first PvP that probably has a big factor to do with it. If TK is your only combat skill you aren't going to stand a chance against a rifleman with a fencer tank. Watching to TK's fight makes for hours of entertainment as neither one can do enough damage to the other. Even last night at the fight club I seen a TKM do a KD/dizzy combo on his opponent and the guy just layed there gaining all his HAM back before he even tried to get up. Armor and buffs are just to good. Stun protection helps against as riflemen and the fencers, but it still is usually weaker then most other protection. The only suggestion I could give you would to be go after the mind and keep all his states going. Blind, stun, dizzy, intimidate,kd. But it all depends on your enemy too. If you are fighting a fencer, the stun state is a must to maintain. They have incredibley high defences and it's the best way to bring them down. That's all I got for now. Better luck next time.

I am not a good PvPer, but I got a few rules who work for me:

1. Forget about hitting health/action unless you can drop an unbuffed unarmored target on the ground in a few hits. Always assume the target can heal faster than you can penetrate its armor. Hit mind exclusively, either with Nexu Grin (UnarmedHeadHit1) or Unarmed Combo 2.

2. Intimidate, stun and blind all do wonders for your survival.

3. If the target regenerates faster than I can do damage I run. No sense in staying.

Another thing, drop your VKs. They will kill you faster then your opponent.

Do not drop the VK, unless you are fighting an armorless oponent!. no VK = ap0 vs. AR1 = negligable damage

One of the very determining factors in PvP is correct timing for using food/spice

I always take a BE Arisha (appr. +400 focus for 40m) and a good brandy (mine's +407 for 45m)

ten minutes later pop another brandy; and you ham cost for specials is almost gone, while you still have room for synthsteak, canape etc.

Only use vercupti as last resort, it's mega filling and only lasts 10 minutes

Take theMuon IN TIME, not when you only have 200 mind left. I always have thrusterhead on me, with arisha/canape/brandy mind substats can get maxxed out, thrusterhead gives 100 more to mind, and the downer is easier to cope with.

I always have one or two kiwi glands hotkeyed for fast recuperation.

UA combo 1 seems to get in more damage than UAC2 for me.

When you have taken anti-KD food, don't bother trying to KD your oponent (if he's melee), instead put a lot of damage on him with UAC 1/2 while he tries to KD you!

I always have 2 sets of armor on me, use them to your benefit. eg. I have one helmet 37S, 84b for when I'm taking damage, and one with low enc. when I need to recup my mind (when I'm not taking much damage)

MOST IMPORTANT TIP: ALWAYS, and I repeat ALWAYS keep your oponent intimidated, you can stack 2 intimidate 1 for double duration, throw in 2 intimidate per 15 attack moves and you should be safe

Hope this helps

One of my mates, who is a Swordsman, challenged me to a duel today. I am a Master Rifleman and 4 3 4 3 TKA. I first had a go purely with my rifle. Two headshots and he was incapped.

He then restricted it to melee. I stood toe to toe with him for about 2 mins dizzying and KDing him and causing minimal damage on his health or action pool. He wasspamming awayon my mind but the brandy I took kept me going. My stats are also migrated to my mind mostly. My only mind damaging move at this time is unarmed combo 3. It took me aboutthreeminutes of spamming this in order to drop him again.

As a RM/TKA, I will be the first to admit the imbalance between the two. One took me 30 secs and one took me 5 plus mins to incap the same guy. Hope the combat rebalance sorts this out. TKA is so much fun to play with -I mostly PvE and hardy use my rifles now that I have TKA. Why kill something within 30 secs when I can have fun applying states on it and then dropping it. Thank goodness PvE mobs arent buffed.

Sure it does - only the combat spam message is bugged. /duel a friend and try it out, you will do significant damage to him or her.

I love threads like this!

I do believe Slymenstra said just about everything I could think of.

But it sounds like you did exceptionally well for your first PVP.

In situations like these, headhit1 or ua combo 2 are your best attacks plain and simple. Regarding the combos, the spam reports incorrectly, but, the combos, along with fencer scatter hits and a select few other attacks have a special property to them. Whether intended or not(probably not), these attacks ignore all defenses except armor and PvP reduction. Meaning, if you use these against a fencer, for example, their dodge with CoB will not matter at all. You will always hit them and hit them relatively hard compared to your other attacks.

In tests I've done I've found UA combo 2 *and* UA combo 1 will outdamage not only the pool specific hits, but even UA hit 3 in PvP. This issue, while it has been well known in many circles, has come up as a big one recently as Jedi rely only on their innate defenses now in the Publish 9 system. As such, no matter how much defense a Jedi has, using these attacks against them lets you hit for *full damage*. So, likely these attacks are going to be changed in some manner sooner rather than later. But, for now, at least against a fencer, and in many many other situations, the Unarmed Combos are among the best tools in your arsenal.

If you start substituting UA combo 2 for headhit1 and combo 1 for health hit 1, you'll see a marked difference in what little offensive capability we have in PvP right now.
