Greetings! I've a question regarding the current status of VK's and the cert's required for them.

I've recently gotten back into the game after a break and noticed that there are some really hard hitting VK's out there now hitting 200 dam or better. My question is this, i examined one and it said that it was a "Variation of Vibro Knuckler". Is this a weapon we can use or not, or am i bugged or what.

Sorry, had to edit message, when i examined the weapon it said i was NOT certified for it.

Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

PS.... What are some really good armor choices for a PvE TK?

It sounds as though it is bugged. I would try this:
  1. First the obvious try it and see if you are doing full damage, which would say the examine window is simply bugged
  2. Logout, wait 15 minutes or so, log back in, see if it says anything different.
  3. Contact a CSR to take the issue further if you find it is not working as it should.

No longer holding out hope, SWG will never be the game we fought so hard for, that we believed so much in. Farewell friends.

To me this sounds like one of the comon vendor bugs...
Were you browsing and saw this VK on a vendor? If so its a problem with the sellers UI being shown to the buyer. The guy who owns it and has it on the vendor isn't certed to use the VK and thats why you see a "no" on the certification. Its not some super mutant VK... Just a game bug.
The "variation of a Vibroknuckler" stuff shows up on everything in the vending page so that morons don't name cdef rifles 'T-21 Rifle' to take advantage of Newbs who don't know any better.

Oh and for armor choices...
Depends on what you'll be hunting. If you're just killing quenkers and other such grinding stuff then you're fine with a plain old 80% kinetic composite suit. Gorax, Krayt, etc are all fine with 80% kinetic. Some higher level NPCs (Force crystal hunters, Nightsisters, Dark Troopers) whip out stun batons from time to time and lay down the hurt if you've cheap armor on. For Looting NPC's you'll want to get a nice set of armor with 70+% base resists and a stun layer or two so that you've got all your bases covered.

TKM for Life.

- I support keeping & balancing the current combat system You can too

Whoever said "Don't bring a knife to a gunfight" was right; it wouldn't be fair. I can kick your butt without the knife.
