It is a part of Canon I think. There is a really good web site on the whole story.(I just don't know what it's called) In a nutshell, TKA's many years ago began developing their meditation, self healing etc. In time their power grew to rival that of the Jedi. The Jedi (led by Exar Kun) traveled to the homeworld of the Teras Kasi and started a war, which wiped out the TK's almost to the man.
That stuff is all Fanfiction so you know, stuff like that though just got well circulated but it really doesn't stand up overly well when you look at the very little about Teräs Käsi that is in the EU.
Also Teräs Käsi arn't canon, to be canon we would need to apear in one of the films; we don't.

I didn't know that. I once posted here a question to the effect "What are Teras Kasi and how are they a part of Star Wars?" I was referred to the web site I mentioned and many people said that Darth Maul was in fact a TK. I am not speaking from any claim to expertise myself.
I was happy (and still am) just being a TK within SWG, how ever we got here.

I don't know if it'll happen, but I hope we gain something by the KOTOR series actually being considered canon (if it is indeed being considered canon by Lucas).
For those who have played KOTOR II pay attention to the Echani. I could picture a very nice development there.
LOL if you ask a dev next time you see one they will remind you that Lucas aproved this game, so everythig in it is "canon" that was stated long long ago....

Honestly I doubt that much in this can be called canon considering the fact that this time period has already been established 20+ years ago. Jedi weren't running around freely and any found would bring a lot of attention considering this is also a time where earning credits was hard.
Echani and Bunduki are not the same, the EU is full of martial artists, even the Mabari had their own martial arts.
Darth Maul did know at least some Teras Kasi according to the book "Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter" which can be considered part of the EU and thus part of continuity like SWG, but still isn't canon.
The concept of TKA being Jedi hunters/watchers/police/etc. was indeed fan fiction. Every single link ever posted on these boards claiming authority led to either a personal web page or a forum fiction posting. The idea first came out because of Arden Lyn in the Masters of Teras Kasi video game, but even she wasn't a "Jedi Hunter", she was an assassin hired to kill all of the popular rebel leaders (i.e. Luke, Leia, and Han).

I thought calling a piece of SW work canon meant it was absolutely accepted by Lucas to be completely true. Mind you I'm not saying Lucas says a story is acceptable, lets it get printed and then writes something that completely debunks the story.
TKA, if I remember correctly, was a Bunduki art. Echani are a race of people however. So yes they are not the same, but it doesn't mean that Teras Kasi may not have it's origns stemming from the Echani and then becoming a form that was practice and taught to many.
In KOTOR2, the Echani Handmaidens were Jedi watchers though they also served Jedi. From what I've heard it's been stated by someone from Lucasarts that it is canon.

I am not being intentionally dense here, but Darth Maul was in the movie, and he did use martial arts while appearing in the movie. If he knew at least some TK skills (and by his appearance in both the book and episode1 suggests, he did) then wouldn't that make him at the very least a TK Novice, and by default make the profession Canon?
