Thread: Skills mods question: General Melee and Unarmed?

I am a bit confused about how the skill mods work still. First of all, for some reason, I am determined to not ever use a weapon, hah, I want to only use my fists.

Now that I have shared that, when I look at a character builder, there are skill mods for General Melee and then the same mods for Unarmed, Two-Handed, One-handed.

So do these work together? I mean, it seems like an easy question, but when you don't know, you don't know, heh.
So if say I have a General Melee Accuracy of 100 and an Unarmed Accuracy of 75, is my total Accuracy 175 when I fight with my fists?

This is also very important to know when it comes to buying clothing attachments. Need to make sure I buy for a skill mod that will actually help me when I use my fists.

And just to help clarify for me even though i dont plan to use them, but if i equip the knucklers or whatever it is we TKM can use then do my skill mods switch to General Melee Accuracr + One-Handed Accuracy?

thanks so much for help or direction to help.

You're completely right about your General Melee Accuracy and Unarmed Accuracy stacking when you fight with your fists. Also if you equip any kind of knuckler type weapon, Katarn, Vibro, Blaster Fist, etc, you'll still be using an Unarmed class weapon so you'll still have your mods. Melee Defense and Ranged Defense you get will stackwith your Unarmed Defense, just like the General Melee Accuracy/Speed & General Ranged Accuracy/Speed (if you have any/use any) will stack with the mods you have for whatever specific weapon type you're using. Now one thing I've noticed on 2 different TKA prof characters, one is TKM, the other is just 0/1/1/1 that in spite of the Unarmed Speed mods being reflected on the weapon it seems like I'm still only hitting at the base speed of the weapon, actually slower on the 0/1/1/1 TKA.

As far as attachments go I'm not sure which ones even work at the moment, I know BE clothing is pretty much broken on the Melee/Ranged Defense and Unarmed Damage/Terrain Negotiationtissues however a brief glance over there this morning makes it look like a lot more than just those are broken. I've yet to buy any attachments myself so I can't provide any kind of information in that area.

Great thanks Ronaj!

I have not used any attachments yet either, but was interested in trying some and wanted to make the right choice so this helps a lot.

The only BE clothes I have used since the CU is Healing Efficiency, and it does work. I have a +16 shirt and it raised my heals by about 100. Of course I only had Medic 0 0 3 0, so my heals still only got to about 400, but it was definitely working.

I wanted to get Terrain Negotiation / Unarmed Damage clothes, so that is a bummer to hear that they may not be working...
