Thread: Reactivated Teras Kasi After 1 Year Lay-off...And /respec Just Caused A Lot Of Problems
2) I WAS a Teras Kasi monk with 5 skill boxes into the tree, a pistoleer with no skill boxes, a creature handler with 2 skill boxes, almost a full scout, half medic, 1/4 entertainer, 2 boxes into artisan, and half marksman. Now that I have to drop 19 skill pts and have the ability to rearrange, does anyone have any suggestions? Which TK skills are people going for first now-a-days?
3) Is the TK profession still viable? I've read about our new role as a defensive tank....I will want to pursue the Force, so is TK a good compliment?
4) Are Force-sensitive characters (now that you can have your main char become one through the game) still privy to the "3 deaths and you're out" policy?
5) Is the smuggler a good compliment to the TK profession?
6) Are towns not safe anymore?
7) I have some ~80 dps Vibro Knucklers...and my combat level was around 28 I believe (why so low?). Should I be looking for a new weapon right away?
8) Where's a good place to hunt for a character around my level?
9) Anyone have a guild recommendation for Ahazi?
Ahazi
ughh... here i go. a "sith shadow" is NOT part of the GCW. it is part of the new way to get jedi. if you werent visited by an NPC called "old man" yet then you were unlucky as someone else's sith shadows kill you.
when you die, your items will decay. this has been around for more than a year, so i dont know what you are surprised about. they decay by 5% of the remaining condidtion, unless you buy insurance, then they decay by 1%. its impossible to die on tatooine then clone on dantooine. i dont know what you contacted a CSR about, nothing went wrong.
1) no one loses xp loss anymore. jedi used to, but not anymore. normal players never did.
2) your old template might have been fun but it probably wasnt strong as your dabbled WAY too much all over the place. if you want to keep tkm, there are many templates. do you want to tank (take damage and keep the creatures attacking you), deal damage? do you want to be all melee (3 elite masters) or do you want to have doc to be able to heal? tkm/swordsman/doc 4000 is popular right now.
3) TK is good. i am not sure but i am guessing you are not that rich? TK gives you innate armor, which is 6000 protection. a good quality armor. on my server, 7000 crafted armor would cost me 1.5 mil. if you can shell out the price for the armor, then you might only want the TK line of meditation or the improved COB. TK is great at taking damage.
4) no, permadeath has been gone for a year and a half i think. you can die as much as you want. if your jedi dies from pve, its the same as a normal player. but if a BH kills you, you lose lots of xp.
5) i advise not mixing ranged with melee.
6) NPC towns are safe. if you are overt (special forces) or a combatant and you enter another town of the opposing faction they will attack you. also some jabba NPCs may attack you on tatooine if your faction points with them is bad.
7) that VK is horrendous. absolutley awful. your combat level was around 28 because you didnt master any elite combat professions and dabbled to much in crafting and entertainer. you also had a lot of half finished professions. novice pistoleer wont help your CL much. you need to have 2 combat elites (healing and scouting professions included) to get to lvl 80.
8) now i advise you to go to dantooine and join a high lvl hunting group. make sure at least half are lvl 75+ or it will take forever. you will get around 1500 xp per kill i think, and if you have someone in your group who has the skills you are grinding, they can just teach them to you.
9) not from ahazi
As for skills, you are at -19 because all combat classes now take 2 lower branches. So pistoleer takes pistol + ranged support, and TKA takes unarmed + (stupidly) 2h swords. So because you had these two, the game automatically filled in your extra boxes (I'm betting you had ranged support anyway, or most of it, so 14 of the 19 pts is from 2h sword in brawler).
The new SWG is very dabble-unfriendly. Most of the time you want dual combat class mastery, or single combat, single non-combat mastery.
However, I am not a huge fan of the whole "template stacking" thing. My advice on which combat classes to combine is, do whatever you think will be fun. CH is, at least in theory, a terrible stack with TKA, because your pets are sort of tanks, and you're a tank, which means it's very hard to do damage. But I like pets (though they are bugged to heck and back right now, sadly), so I did what was fun, not what was optimal. TKA/CH is still entirely viable, and I can solo anything up to 3 levels above me... and anything up to my level without even a pet out. It's not quick, since you're a tank... but its possible.
Assuming you want to keep TKA for sure, I'd say your best option is to choose between CH and Pistoleer, one or the other (it's not really very workable to dabble anymore like we have said). Perhaps try both and see which you like. Neither of those will be seen as "efficient" or optimal by the uber-leets who like to post builds on the forum here, but as I say, I recommend doing what is fun, not optimal. (Of course, if being uber = fun for you, then you will want to read the template-stacking posts here, which are legion, to find out the most efficient way to do it -- TK/Sword and TK/doc seem quite popular these days.)
Unfortunately the respec period (other than the free one they are giving you) is over. When the CU first came out, for a few weeks you could respec every 12 hours and try a bunch of profs on for size. Can't do that anymore, alas.

TKA is great for defense, especially with the innate armor and advanced CoB.
I recommend Pikes 00x0 or Swords 00x0 for added defense and some Medic x000 or even Doc x000 for healing and some buffs.
The Swords and Pikes mesh well with TKA because they each share one branch of Brawler for the 2 dependencies you need for any advanced combat profession.
As much as you might like crafting and/or entertaining, I advise you to drop those as each novice skill box takes way too many points (they really discourage dabbling now) that you could use elsewhere. Wait until you make Padawan and get a 2nd character unlock to go back to crafting or entertaining. You will be much happier overall in the short run that way.

Just so you know - you don't have to respec right away. Just open your skill sheet (L-key) and drop some useless junk until you get up to 0 again. This will of course be a problem if you don't have any "useless junk" to drop. ![]()
I logged in with the same situation as yours (for some reason in the middle of Camp Tusken, that was fun!)and - after getting db'd by the tusken - I dropped all my meaninless scout skills from my WS character - respecced a week later when I knew what I wanted to do.

I would suggest going to the Test Center before selecting one template or another.Thefrog's can be used to set up various player templates. Try out several, learn the affects of each then move your character in that direction. The advice above, in the thread, is very very good.

Greetings,
So, after a 1-year lay-off, I decide to pick-up SWG again and see if some of the improvements have really enhanced the game.
I reactivate my account and log into my main player, a Teras Kasi monk on Ahazi (Slyther). I'm still standing in Bestin on Tatooine, my favorite "safe" (or so I thought) town to log-off in. That's when the fun began.
First, I can not move, for I'm at -19 skill points. After taking a couple of minutes to get reacquainted with the user interface, I type /respec and start looking at my skills. A minute later, a "Sithe Shadow" kills me. Now, I was under the impression (a year ago) that the pre-made towns were safe from being killed (I'm neutral faction in the war). Either way, I could not move, so running away or defending myself was not an option. I reappear in a cloning facility on Dantooine with a message about items "decaying".
So, here I am now, unable to move until I decide what profession(s) I want to play. I have no time to test out the game or figure out what I want to do. I contacted a CSR via web chat and they told me there's nothing they can do. In fact, CSR Bill C. was a bit rude (if anyone @ SOE is reading this, please see indicent #2706166). So, if anyone has some extra time to type, perhaps you can help me out by answering any of the following questions::
1) What happens when you die now and have to get cloned at the "closest cloning facility"? What have I lost? I know items have decayed...experience loss as well?
2) I WAS a Teras Kasi monk with 5 skill boxes into the tree, a pistoleer with no skill boxes, a creature handler with 2 skill boxes, almost a full scout, half medic, 1/4 entertainer, 2 boxes into artisan, and half marksman. Thanks for your time and I hope my future experiences with the game far surpass the first 15 minutes I've been back.
Best regards,
Slyther
