Ok today Holocron said that SWG has 500k+ subscribers, and that more people are sighning up and that contrary to the word on the street video game stores are recommending SWG, and people don't read all the no buys in the magazines

All of us whiners, and people that are mad are the minority. So lets look at the numbers.

500,000 people over 20 servers.

that is 25,000 people per server.

most of the people you see are on just a few of the cities on a few of the planets. You can go to several cities on Lok, Yavin 4, endor, dantioone, Rori, etc.

Most of the players are on tatioone, corellia, and naboo. Each of these planets has around 5 cities each. And most of the people are in 3 main cities.

So 25,000 people on a server in 9 main areas, on 3 main planets.

25,000/3= so we should be seeing around 8,500 people on naboo, tatioone, and corellia.

So now lets take the 3 main cities on each planet and see how many should be on.

8,500/3=2800+ in cities like tyrennia, mos eisly, etc etc.

I used to play anywhere from 5-15 hours per day. And I have never seen more than 50 (and 50 is stetching it) in any of these main cities.

Now sure many people are hunting and out in the field at anygiven time.

Let me even give SWG the benefit of the doubt and take 25,000 people in all the cities on everyplanet to account for the hunters

25,000/8 planets=3125 people per planet

Many of the planets have 1 city, while a few have 5. We will round up and say a average of 3 cities per planet.

3125/3=1000+ in each city.

Now that is saying that every single city in the galaxy has people in it.

So even really really stretching it and giving then the benifit of the doubt and saying 1000+ in each city on the planet, I have still never seen 1,000+ people in anchorhead, or any other big city for that matter. Anchorhead used to be a very populated city, due to the close missions and very little lag there, and being a rebel city. You also see many imperials that are covert and raiding.

Even if you take into account the circus of creatures there are not even 50 people in anchorhead.

Well I don't think that the numbers lie. and I can tell you this, even with the power outages there should have been a massive influx of players in cities since it has been restored, and I am seeing fewer and fewer players. On most planets you cannot even find a medic or entertainer to heal you

What server again? On scylla it seems like there's more and more players every day, not that I'm necessarily happy about that. Heh, urban sprawl is really getting out of hand..

Well you have to account for time differences as well. I definitely see people playing at all hours. Also there are probably a lot of true casual players that only get a couple hours a night tops. Not saying their numbers are right by any stretch; just pointing out that there are multiple factors involved.

Yes I factored all that stuff in. There should still be thousands of people in a given city at and given time.

I find it funny that SWG has sold 500k copies when W3 TFT is the number one seller on the charts after it has been out several months. It is still number one on the charts while SWG is in not even in the top 5, yet W3TFT just now sold 1 million copies after being out for a few months, yet somehow SWG has sold 1/2 million copies.

I could see if there were 1/2 million character, where people have made multiple characters.

O well time to watch monday night football. Rams and Bucks are playing

the only thing ive really noticed is the lack of entertainers in the CANTINA, not saying they arent on but its seems like there used to be 10+dancer/musicians in the bar at one time, now there MAY be 1 or 2 at best. This is hard on a TKA since I get alot of wounds due to my uber defense

SWG is obviously lying. I play during prime time evenings and weekends. The busiest city I've seen is Coronet and I'd say I see maybe 100-200 people (stretch). The medical center is commonly empty with maybe 2 dancers in the cantina. All the other cities in Corellia are ghost towns. Talus, Rori, Dantooineare empty. I see about 50 to 100 people in Bestine. The other cities are ghost towns. I ran for hours on Lok on evening and hardly saw anyone else. I do see a lot of AFK surveyors, entertainers, street advertisers though. I suppose they count.

I might have missed it, but you also have to account for people buying multiple copies/accoutns. I have two. My other friend has three. I know many people have at least two.

You could be right, maybe the game is dwindling. It's really hard to say -- too many variaables. When the close down a server and merge one popluation with another, then we'll know.
