A bullet at the speed of light mind you..
"Pistolwhip" means to beat someone with a pistol. Presumably, if you hitsomeone on the head, it couldknock them down. Otherwise, 99% of the timeit would just daze them and give them a headache/mind wound. It really messes up guns when you do this in real life, and can severelythrow off the sight/scope.
But pistolwhipping an AT-AT? All you'd do is damage your weapon.
Then again, the same goes for hitting it with your hand, or a vibroknuckler, or a sword, or a pike. You'd doinsignificant damage to the metal armor, and you'd do significant damage to your hand/weapon.
So it's unrealistic to Pistolwhip an AT-AT to knock it down. But it's just as unrealistic that you could use a martial arts knockdown/trip move to knock the AT-AT down, too. In the movies they had to wrap cables around the legs of AT-AT's and AT-ST's to take them down, and then they were totally incapacitated. The other way they were taken down was by internal sabotage; aka Luke cutting theunderside open and tossing in apowerful grenade.
Should Pistolwhip / Knockdown only work on humanoids and on human sized or smaller animals?
Er.. how did they manage to keep the AT down?
I knocked down an AT-ST the other day.. it stayed down for all of 1 second.

I think there's little doubt that knockdowns need to be adjusted for PVE based on target size. Man sized and smaller creatures should be relatively easy to knock down. Large creatures like humbabas or giant carion spats should be difficult. Giant creatures like tortors and other dino sized creatures (along with AT-STs) should be immune to knockdown from players.
I think AT-STs are stuipdly over-powered, but they need to be intelligently balanced, rather than simply pistol whiped. We'll see how they fare once commandos get fixed. Hopefully the rocket launcher will knock it down a notch or two.
AT-STs should be immune to everything also
blasters will only put scorch marks on the outside. The only thing that should be able to really hurt it are big big creaturs, and commandos.

You dont have to dodge a bullet, you just have to move quick enough so other person cant get a good shot at you. And to answer other person, its not speed of light, else you could see it, vast majority of 'laser' weapons in star wars is based on the idea of superheated charges of gas. Which are considerably slower than light. Possibly slower than conventional bullets. Not to mention blasters have rather poor accuracy usually "Not as clumbsy or random as a blaster"
I watched two pistoleers take down an AT-ST and its handler. one pistolwhiped the handler, the other pistolwhipped the AT-ST.
They are not overpowered. kind of easy to get, yes, but not overpowered.
