I keep getting asked in game about defense lines and what's best to go for when choosing secondary (or even third !) elite combat professions.
So here's a list for you to compare. Let me know if I've got anything wrong, I think it's all accurate. (crosses fingers)
As my sig states, personally I went for Master TKA (duh), Master Fencer, Novice Pikeman (defense line) and Medic.
Now the question is, do all these skills work fully or even as intended. And to give you an honest answer I don't think they do. They still haven't answered any questions regarding them. There was a small sentence in the recent big patch :
· Fixed issues with state defense modifiers. They didn't work, now they do
As to whether they all fully work.... /shrug
Pistoleer get +30 Dodge bonus while unarmed TKA's get none? /boggle
yea master rifleman/tka is a good combo - im currently a master rifleman and i just recently decided t master tka... because they both work really good together i get a lot of extra ranged defense for rifleman and a lot of extra melee defense/block from rifleman for tka
Atm I'm MTK & MCH and glade now this was mentioned, as I was about to surrender MCH to test Opiium theory
The idea I had in mind was;
MTK
Master Fencer
Master Brawler
some lines in Swordsman and the rest in Pikeman.
The question is: If I'm MTK & Master Fencer will I benifit in combat from the +25 Dodge fighting Unarmed?
Opiium, I'm also on Eclipse, so I would be glade to offer my service as a TKM to a Dual, to see if the extra stats provided do benefit you?.
Example; If I at TKM got +40 to KD and you have +80 I'm sure if we duelled then the results would say it all.
Hope I haven't confused anyone and got my point across.
In game name "Devour-of-souls"
Thanks
I have found that the defensive mods only work for the profession you are currently using. I take much less damage when using VK than I do with any other weapon, since I have advanced most in TKA.
I think the game is only applying the defense mods for your current weapon, much like mission terminals give you missions based on your skill with the current weapon you are wielding.
This is only conjecture, but it seems to be true for me.
This is a great thread...
What does dodge really do?
ranged defense affects % to get hit or % of damage?
Excellent chart; too badthe forumscan't easily do table formatting so we can see a side-by-side of the classes.
Right now my build is a hodgepodge of skills so as to get myself up to +67 Melee Defense (eventually). It's a **edit** pity that I have to "multi-class" in order to support the only class I really care about: TKA.
