Thread: Creature Mounts and Teras Kasi Artists
I just read the interview with Raph Koster who says that once Creature Handler's Mounts are in effect, most professions will be able to attack while riding. However, he said Teras Kasi artists are screwed.
This really irked me, as my primary professions are TK and CH. I have made the following proposal to allow for the 4 melee classes to be able to attack from the back of a mount.
Teras Kasi: Earning Expert Precision Striking unlocks the certification for the Magnetic Grappling Hook. As seen in use by Boba Fett, the MGH can be used while on the back of a mount. The damage is minimal (5-10 damage), with the effect of bringing the opponent to the brawler for a chance at a hit, and allows for a40% chance of Stunning opponent.
One Handed: Earning Expert Fencing Finesse unlocks the certification for the Vibro Whip. The Vibro Whip can be used while on the back of a mount. The damage is mediocre (55-145) and allows for a 40% chance of Blinding the opponent.
Two Handed: Earning Expert Sword Finesse unlocks the certification for the Vibro Grapplink Hook. The Vibro Grapplink Hook has a large device at the end with various poison tipped prongs. The damage is above average (75-155) and allows for a 40% chance of Poisoning the opponent.
Polearm: Earning Expert Polearm Support Abilities unlocks the certification for the Vibro Halberd. The Vibro Halberd has incredible reach, extending as needed from an adjustable base near the grip. The damage is above average (95-135) and allows for a 40% chance of Dizzying the opponent.

How about we just ask that if we knock down the mount... the passenger takes damage based on the size of said mount.
I'll just use a swoop bike, and if I decide to get a creature mount... I'll get a ranged skill.

You have grappling (grapplink?) hook in two professions. Shouldn't you rename one as I see the descriptions are different? This will be very confusing.
Meanwhile, if they add whips to the fencing profession, I just may switch! On your knees, Human! Crrrrraaaaack!!!

MGH: Magnetic Grappling Hook - used by Teras Kasi. It requires one arm to use (and the hand is empty, no less).
VGH: Vibro Grappling Hook - Two-Handed weapon; large device with various poison-tipped prongs.
Glad people are thinking ahead and posting ideas about it...I am a Master of Teras Kasi and of the art of Creature Handling as well. I'm looking forward to mounts as well and here's my take.
I'm a melee...close ranged...if I had a magnetic grappling hook...isn't the firing or throwing of that a ranged attack type? I hope this never comes to fruition...just get off the mount and fight man. Not that hard.
Rest of it is cool. I just don't see why a portion of the Teras Kasi community thinks the rest of the world needs to come to them. You lose in PvP to ranged people because you're playing their game...and you don't have the tools to do that (guns). Make them play yours and you'll notice a lot more corpses to step over.
why cant we just ride our mounts up near them and kick from the side like teh cowboys do...
and as for sword users, ever hear of jousting?
Same rules apply as un-mounted, you need to be close to the opponent. Completly removing any way of doing damage for melee and not for rangedwould be lame.
tho honestly i think it should be a ch - elite elite proffession to fight from mounts.(given bonuses to fighting\controling mounts as well, even use the mount itself as a weapon)
