I fail to see why this even belongs here when it has nothing to do with a class and everything to do with the person(s) behind the class.

On a side note, Master Pistoleer or brand new CDEF user makes no matter, if your fighting a melee oponent as a ranged user it requires pretty much little skill to generally win.

I want to point out that inside a room, the TKM should have completely owned you.

Only outside where you can be 30m distant should melee reign supreme.

It's a sad state of affairs when even inside our limited specialty of close quarters combat, we can't compete with gunslingers.

Tell that to the bounty hunter who's a$$ I whupped in 9 consectutive duels inside the Bestine cantina last night. He even managed to escape my KD a few times and hand me the "out of range" message and I still beat him every time.

Nothing makes me more pissed off than seeing another Teras Kasi let alone a Master trash talking. I'll personally ask them to stop and challange them to a duel.... Using my own tactics and (what they don't know that gives me the edge) a sunburn, they stop talking trash and i appologize to the people around.

Luckly this doesn't happen often.

Thank you for putting him in his place!

Wait a sec here I happen to be on the teras kasi persons side. How is it fair when the person with the gun and run which by the way is cowardly!!!! So I think the marksmen should learn to fight like men!!!! Bunch of pansy ass losers!!!!

Well, since Selwynn already masterfully said everything that needed to be said, I'll be on my way to the next topic.

Right on the money as usual, Selwynn.

And your 9/10 is mostly accurate. At least in my experience of 4 duels with a Master Pistoleer/BH pistoleer(Samsara, cheers man), I won once... and that's because he messed up and unequipped his weapon long enough for me to get him down and out.

So I was hanging out when a member of the opposite faction (he's a TKM)comes along talking trash to me and my pal for no real reason (we were overt, he was covert). He challenges me to a duel and I accept. Then the fun begins, for me at least.

Apparently he didn't know I am a almost master pistoleer. He starts to scream and whine about how I won't stand still for him (yes I was kiting his arse, applying stacked bleeds, posture changes, even a pistolwhip when he got too close). If anyone thinks a ranged combatant is just going to stand still and let a TKM beat on them they need to get their heads checked. He wussed out and ended the duel but still got incap from the bleeds. Then he wanted to duel again. Same thing happened onlyhis trash talk turned into harassment. I didn't trash talk back but explained that I was using tactics, using the skills I have to gain the upper hand, something he was trying to do. I'm not trying to be a troll or anything but I don't see why I should stand still for a TKM to rip me to shreds.

Though I found the best way to passively annoy someone who's trash talking you. I stopped responding to him and asked to the ppl around me "is he still whining? i put him on ignore" even though I hadn't ignored him. Oh man he got even more pissed. The sad thing is that he kept on trash talking even though he and everyone else thought I had put him on ignore. LOL

Looks like you got abad seed there. I agree that any player should be able to use any skills their earn to the extent that they choose. It is not a player's job to moniter fairness. It is the developers job and their oversight that allowed a that balttle to be so one sided. Even though since you knew he was comming, it was a fool idea to try and take down a marksman with a melee. It can and has been done. But it is no easy task and will usualy end in tears for the melee. Melee is a secondary form of attack. For when enimies get too close. Or for when you are fighting other melee types. It is complimentary to gun skills and does not have the support to stand alone against guns. But with the exception of PvP. A player who is a Master with a ranged skill and a master with a melee skill, should be a very scary thing indeed. Especialy when in large groups. With many ranged users fightingit is easy for a melee to sneak/burt run up and lay serious damage on to the distracted ranged combatants then switch back to ranged.

Point is I think melee is often thought to be stand alone. It is not. A purely melee player is either doomed, or doing well and tuff as nails.

I think, sir, that whether this particulate TKM was mature in his comments or not, the broader point is this: you do not need to "gain" the upper hand. You have been firmly given the upper hand in every encounter with a melee person. You don't need "tactics" because you're not under any threat, there is no competition - you are garunteed a win in 90% of all situations.

A lot of us use guns too, but we also feel that melee professions should be able to compete as melee professions and not forced to use ranged weapons to compete. The issues that come up have to do with how to close the game between the dominating superiority of any ranged user and the inferiority of melee users in pvp combat.

And you can take a haughty and smug attitude about yourself and laugh at the folley of other TKs all you want. But all you really need to do is follow the Dev tracker, and read about the nerfs coming to ranged users, specifically pistol, and the buffs coming to Teras Kasi - specifically buffs designed to help us become more equal in pvp fighting.

So, enjoy your dominance while you can. Take a gloating attitude towards TKs while there's still time. Because it won't be that way forever. I realize that the only reson a person like you comes to the TK boards to berate a TK is to be inflammatory. But I'm not going to do that. The problems between melee and range are obvious. They are obvious to melee users, they are obivous to honest ranged users, but most importantly, they are obviously to the developers, who while still working on a solution, have acknoweldged that there is a problem.

So, the issue is right now you have the upper hand in every situation, you have no need to use tactics because you're guarunteed to keep us out of your range by simply running around, no you shouldn't just stand there an not use every tool at your disposal to win the fight -- but those tools should have corresponding counter balances to make the competition balanced. There should be a counter to your ability to endlessly kite. There should be a counter to your bleed, or an equivalent kind of move - a fight between a TK and a ranged user should be 50/50. Right not is 10/90 and that's what Devs are starting to respond to. So enjoy your sense of superiority while it lasts.
