Thread: My Experiences as a TKM (Long and Hopefully Informative)
I hear a lot, and I mean a lot of complaining about melee and tka's in general having no viability in pvp. Well here are my experiences from being a TKM Imperial in Moenia. These are all approximate times:
12:00 - I arrive in Moenia and start searching the outer area for people attacking imperial camps/bases. Come across a creature handler and pistoleer. Eliminated them with ease.
12:14 - I continue to search the area for more rebels. Come across a master combat medic who poisons me and kites. I'm alive and hes not
12:36 - Novice Doctor dead.
12:39 - Master Marksman dead.
12:49 - Pistoleer from the first attack comes back again with two faction pets. Destroyed the pets, unfortunately the plasma thiefs killed him ![]()
1:01 - Same pistoleer comes back, but this time with about 6 friends with several pets behind him. Do I stay? Hahah yay right. Live to fight another day!
1:10 - I work my way to the rear of the med station in moenia. Ambush two players waiting for their ride at the shuttle port. They're dead, I'm not.
1:12 - I storm the med station and take out one player. Master doctor whips out3 faction pets and a graul. Doctor dies.
1:15 - Two faction pets dead, graul is on me and so is the doctor again. Surprise surprise, the doctor is dead again! Me and the graul decide to take this out into the swamp. Poor graul ![]()
1:24 - More rebels show up and so do a couple imperials. The doctor and two others decide to stand in a line and start firiing at one of the other imperials while I take each one out one by one.
1:34 - Things start getting really harry here now. I have a TKM, commando a few others on me. TKM finally catches up with me in the swamp. Thought for sure I was going to die, I thought wrong! I heal up and head back into the city.
1:48 - Battle insues even further. Several rebels of all types show up for the fun. All of which died by my hands at least twice ![]()
2:20 - At about this time It's just me and two other imperials standing and no rebels in sight. Not even TEF revengers. I'd say it was a good day for the Empire!
Some notes on all of this:
1. I wasn't death blown or incapped once during this whole time period
2. If it weren't for the teamwork of the other imperials I would have most likely been incapped and deathblown.
3. My race is zabrak with 900 will power and I have the ability to use stim c's
4. I am also 4/1/1/2 rifleman
Now, when I pvp I get a lot of tells from people asking "why are you tkm? isn't that class worthless?" which after some fighting is followed by "wow, great moves. that was awesome".
In my strong opinion TKM ( not tka ) is the most deadliest class period. Why do you ask? Our unarmed hit 3 on someone who has no armor does 500 to 700 damage per second. Now people will ask "well you can't do that to someone who kiting you!". You are correct. But, in the heat of battle with everyone running around, I have found (even with TKM as my title) people are too narrowed down on what they're attacking. Thats where all my kills come into play. Its very simple, you first dizzy the opponent and then lunge them. Make a macro of this. If the dizzy or lunge doesn't work the first time ( and this takes some paying attention to) apply it again. If dizzy lands and lunge doesn't and they begin to run, apply lunge again! No, if lunge fails the first time they do not have 30 second immunity so goto town, it has 15m range! Ok, so now they're dizzy/lunged. The player has two options, both of which lead to death. One, stay kneeling and keep firing while you destroy them with unarmed hit 3 or stand up, fall on their butt and still die. 99% of all my tk kills have been from this. It works and I wont change a thing. Is it cheezy? Well saying it is opens the door to a lot of other class moves that are "cheezy". If it works without exploiting or cheating, I see nothing wrong with it. Its a combo of moves that equals the win!
Now for all of you people inspiring to be TKM. I would highly advise using the ideal of "patience is a virtue". What I mean by this is bust your butt off to get TKM before even stepping into pvp. Yes, it is a very long hard road, even more so now. It took me over a month of serious playing to reach TKM and I feel it is so worth it. The fact that I recieve complements on my pvp just adds to it.
Another thing I would like to add is having secondary skills as well. Being a medic is a must as a TK, you can't rely on a medic being around all the time. For my character I use stim c's which pretty much gives me full heals each time. I am also inspiring to be a master rifleman. Why? This way I have the best of both worlds. Close range and distance. With mindshot 1 and 2 PLUS sniper shot this guarantees me victory when coming in too close is too dangerous.
Teamwork in battle is also a must if you really want to kick some butt. You're gonna need buddies who can throw off the attention of your enemies from you and onto them. I mean think about it. You see some unarmed guy coming at you and then all of a sudden laser blasts start whacking you. They're gonna shift their attacks to that guy most likely and from what I've seen forget about you, leaving them open for the kill.
CQB (Close Quarters Battles) are your FRIEND. Any place you can find a corner and you're being chased, use it to your advantage. From what I've seen, almost everyone will come around the corner blindly and then the battle is in YOUR hands. If you dont know what to do, refer to my first long paragraph ![]()
Any tk who goes on a one on one duel with a profficient ranged fighter is going to dy bar none, it just makes no sense so I see no point even discussing this. I would highly advise staying away from bounty hunters in small fights as well since eye shot will take you down in an instant.
Well thats my opinion and experiences with being a TKM. Please feel free to flame, rant, and point out all my typos and grammar mistakes ![]()
I was one of those Rebels you killed... I was getting a soda while earning some med xp. Not worring about combat then WHAM! Dead. Was a nice trick, but in a med center... ![]()
I am a TKA too... howeverI am only 1/3/4/3 .I belive I asked if you wanted to duel, but you must have been busy. Was curious how good my 60% kinetic chitinwas.Anywho, about your post:
Grouping in PvP is vital... There needs to be lots of confusion and LOTS of chaos!! Makes easy pickins for the Melee folk.
Great post!! even though your Imperial Scum. ![]()
Equalivious, that is very encouraging to hear! I haven't dabbled in PvP since the days that ranged attackers could spam knockdown, andI was usually longdeadbefore getting into melee attack range.
I have to admit that I am having fun as a TKA (on the verge of getting 0-2-2-2) in PvE. I'll give PvP another shot when I reach MTK.
That is the Key right now for TKMs, avoid being kited at all costs. Usualy its a good idea to not even declare and use TEF to your advantage. 1vs1 is a disadvantage for us in alot of cases, im suprised you won vs anything who kited you, but depends on lag, if you land lunge, and dont waste it.
our dmg and even out defense is not bad, the dmg vs range is a fair trade off, but we also need somthing to compete with kiters, i have suggested a /stick comand many times but there has been no talk about that.
a declared TK is usualy a dead TK, i use buildings to fight, and try to reverse kite as best as i can, but even you can apreciate that we do need some sort of range or capability to catch somone who is fireing at us from range boost.
