Thread: Loyalties and Codes of Honor

I've been a Teras Kasi for ohh... all of 2or 3 weeks. I still lean heavy on my fencer skills in PvP while I continue to grow as a Teras kasi Artist. My origanal plan was to only train 4/0/0/4 ... or was it 4/0/4/0... no matter, that has changed. Basically the enjoyment I get from being a TK will not allow it to be anything but my main profession. I have come to recognize the ways of Teras Kasiasmy truecalling (ok, I'm a bit of a fool hearted RP'r from time to time).

I am surprised bythis new found love within SWG. But I am even more surprised at what I have found whilefighting with my new Teras Kasi skills while up against other TK's.

So far, I have attacked or been attacked by no less that four fellow Teras Kasi Artists. Each time they started with a /bow and ended with either a congrats (when I won) or some conversation on how I can better my fights in the future (when I have lost). This is where I wonder...

Is there a Loyalty among Teras Kasi Artists, a Code of Honor that goes above and beyond our traditional faction standings? Not a code to prevent a rebel TK from fighting an Imperial TK... but something that -having a hard time finding words for what I am trying to say here-causes a "bond of brotherhood"betweenTeras Kasi no matterwhat side of the GCW they fight on?

In reality I am sure I have just beenlucky to find mature opponents, making the small scale PvP encountersmuch more fun as of late.

Ifeel as if I am too junior within these ranks to be throwing out ideas...but if there is no code of honor established for PvP warfare between two TKsmaybewe can make one. Something like:

1.When attacking a fellow TK of opposite faction, ensure your opponite is ready for the fight (ie when jumpn anotherovert TK, let him finish offthe poor NPCs heis bashinand is healed up before you attack)

2./bow before you punch (just seems like the good TKA thing to do)

3. Never "out number" a lone TK opponite (if you are out with your crew lookn for trouble, and you see a lone TEFd or Overt TK, tell your boys something like, "don't jump in, this one is just between me and him")

4.Smack talk... we dont need no stinkin smack talk here...

obviously this dont jive too well in large scale warfare or battles.

oh... and must not forget

5. Always give wookie TKAs food...

Im sorry to say that its probably luck that you found mature people. On my server (Eclipse) there are lots of people who will make excuses for losing, cuss out the winner, and accuse the other of cheating.

I stay away from PvP for those reasons, mobs dont yell at me after I kill them, or accuse me of cheating. A code of honour is a good idea in theory, but the only people who would follow it are roleplayers.

Yeah you got lucky. I try to be gracious in a fight but that's how I am, that doesn't have anything to do with being a TKA. I know plenty of jerks who take up Teras Kasi on Corbantis, I'm sad to say.

It would be nice if people played nice because of their profession, but then face a Jedi in PvP...

Although I congratulate you on being mature enough to respect your opponents, you have been fortunate to have gotten opponents who think as you do. This is not normally the case, I can't tell you how many times I've dueled someone, and gotten plenty of hate /tells. You get cussed out for beating people, and flamed for losing to them. Wish more people, not just Teras Kasi thought like you and many of the honorable people in this forum.

Think I am gonna throw down a PA hall and title it "the dojo" or something like that. Create a central location for combat training and tactics development.

First take on "Dojo" rules:

1. It would not be affiliated with any faction.

2. No Death Blows unless both parties agree.

3. Friendly banter is ok... harrassment, hate tells, over the top obsenity is not (banned from the Dojo if it continues after a warning).

4. Overts are welcome.

5. Duels / group battles will take place in a designated area (maybe the roof... maybe the main entry hall?)

6. Not TK specific. At first I thought this would only be for TKs, but that would not help us younger TKs in learning how to fight other classes.

7. Leave all personal fights/disagreements at the door. This is a training center, you are expected to respect your fellow warriors within these halls.

I can't think of any others off the top of my head.

Overall it has the potential to be quite fun, and can be controlled by banning the more immature or disrespectful players from the Dojo.

Even though it is open to all to enjoy, only respected Master Teras Kasi will be granted "admin" to the building.

If it don't work out, no biggy. My wife is a master architect so I wont be out alot of cash from the PA hall.

Looking for input from my "elders" here. A worthwhile attempt at adding content? A waste of time? Any additional ideas? I should master TK soon. At that time I will lay down the Dojo on Ahazi and post it on my server's msg boards.

Thanks for the answers to this thread so far.

That sounds cool.

It'll probably work too. You'll attract like-minded people who respect others in duels. Punks will look at your rules and say "that sucks" and stay away.

Sound like you have been lucky in your PvP-encounters, alot of people can't stand to loose.

But it hasn't always been this way, back in the day i used to PvP alot, and had a lot of fun doing it.

Mostly because people where very nice about winning or loosing, and from time to time an opponent would tell you what you did wrong and what had cost you the victory.

But that stopped at some point and people started to be more immature about PvP winning and loosing, i've had people curse at me even though i lost, and had my fair share of whiners when i've won, so i've stopped PvPing because i don't want the hassle after the fighting stopped.

Ahhh... brings back memories

In all honesty, you generally would run into someone who would also /bow or /salute you after a battle, regardless of whether they won or not. I still do that out of professionalism, and just ignore those who rant/whine/flame...

No longer holding out hope, SWG will never be the game we fought so hard for, that we believed so much in. Farewell friends.

I think the dojo is a great idea. I am also on ahazi, and there is a guy named Vegitaa that had something similar going, but it was not a PA, kind of like a loose organization. I think a PA, roleplaying when possible of course, is a great way to get in some nice, controlled, repectful PvP going. Also it would be good training for those of us who would continue, or start,to PvP out in the world. Would be neat to get into the RP aspect of a TKM without having a bunch of people in Theed go "**edit** n00b."I am thinking uniforms,"questing" as in using the in-game badges and quests, having some kind of certification process to become a"master" in the PA, hell we could even go so far as actually assigning apprentices to masters within the PA.If you need a partner in this, I am willing to kick in some funds, as well as help with the operational aspects of a PA. I won't say that I am worthy of the title of master yet, I am a TKM, but I would be willing to serve as one of the masters until we decide how such a thing would be granted in the PA. I sent you a PM as well chugg.

I know many people that follow similar rules. In fact, a good friend of mine just completed his first tournament, for which the prize was 1.5M credits. I wouldn't say your encounter was lucky at all. I have had very good experiences as well.
