Thread: leveling tka without buffs and using cheap armor...am I the only one?

I'm just curious if the only way anyone levels these days is by getting buffed and wearing 80% comp armor.
What I'm mostly curious is to hear the "fishing stories", i.e. what you killed with minimal, or below 30% kin armor and no buffs (i don't consider powerboost a buff).
I myself and doing well with 20% kinetic mabari. I'm only 2/0/2/2 but can hold my own in many situations I didn't think possible. I do keep some brandy on hand and have novice medic for stim b's...

i'm hunting mamians on yavin now but am bored of yavin (its also where i am leveling jedi), i'm going to head to tatooine and take on bocatts, rontos and mountain worrts. This was how I leveled fencer when i started the game august 2003, they give out decent xp, 1500 per kill and are all pretty easy...Then i think I will head to corellia and go for crimson razor cats and grondas.

well i hunt janta and mokk shamans and the occasional huurtons,,,,,,,and i know that if im not buffed and wearing comp (boots, helmet, body) that the jantas hit my mind pool hard. so i guess it depends on what your hunting if you wear armor or get buffed.

Back before CH sucked, I had 2200 CH and used a boarwolf as a tank and killed everything in sight with unarmedhit2. They have 50% kinetic resists and were mean as hell. God I loved that boarwolf. That sucker could take anything.
I had a love/hate relationship with plains hunters back then. I can remember after I just started seeing one and having it kill our whole group when my guild and I were all novice brawlers or marksmen. Rolling with the boarwolf was the only way to protect myself and my guild.
Needless to say, I kill any plains hunter out of spite now.

I know what you mean, back before the CH nerf I used a ravenous torton as a tank for my barely armored fencer. In retrospect, I am mastering TKA with CH once again. I'm going at a snail pace on purpose. I'm just having fun with the game now, if i want to grind i mess with the jedi. But to be honest, i'm a retired grinder, holocron, village, jedi, I can grind anything but coffee...

Doing it now. I do confess I buffed for UA3 and part of 4 and I'm using 67% kin ubese. Picked up novice medic and keep brandy, vercuppti, and spices on had for those "OH SH!T" moments. I haven't buffed since UA4 and have been having a blast playing this game not in "God mode."
Personally, I started out wandering the deserts looking for banthas and then progressed on to dewbacks. After I could manage it, I made a daily trip to the narglatch caves on Naboo. Another fun place that seems to be relatively deserted is the genetically modified Kahmurra (sp) lab on Talus and the beetle cave nearby. Now I've moved on to the dantooine grindof killing huurtons/pickets/voritors. All I need now is the meditation tree and I'll have master TK. I admit that once I get master, I will put on my comp and get those buffs and head out to see what I can kill.

Seeing on how I can heal, I hunt unbuffed on the odd occasion. Sadly I use a ton of crate full of stimpacks trying not to incap myself using specials.

When the game released I had a Greater Sludge Panther (don't care what anyone says...the panther tops any other animal 
). Fought side by side with him and unarmored and unbuffed. This was also the time where people were getting into buffs, but they were too random for me to be concerned with getting them. After that it was me and my rock beetle (when it used to be able to AT LEAST take some damage because of its armor rating). I had fun using him and myself as group tanks for pikets. I'd send him to agro two pikets while I tangled with just the one if it wasn't the normal piket lair that involved two males and one female guarding it. Actually made a total of 300k+ unarmed xp in a matter of 2 hours, more or less, that day and came walked away with a nice sum of money in my account.

I did TK with almost no buffs, and no armor, all on Corellia.

mastered tk before everybody used buffs and i am a wook so no armor then either.........those were the days
