Just curious if anyone else has noticed this.
Like many others I purchased JTL and have been in space ever since (I only play on average an hour or so a day, so I don't progress very fast). Yesterday a friend who is a pure crafter sends me a /tell asking me to help him. Seems his harvesters are overrun with voritor lairs and he can't get to them without getting killed. I figure "No problem" and head to Dantooine.
So I give myself buffs (I'm also a Doc), take some brandy and equip some armor, and head out to clear the nests. As I start attacking I find that I'm getting hit more often than usual....and hard! Seems my armor was blocking some of the damage, but it didn't appear as if my melee mitigation was working (or not working fully). Also, even with Center of Being active, I find that I was being hit more than 50% of the time - something voritors *never* did to me before.
Has anyone else noticed something similar since JTL was released, or did I just have the unluckiest combat encounter in the world?

i noticed that the other day...normally i can basically go afk while i fight them...
BUT...they are tweaking the critters as part of the combat upgrade/balance/revampe...you'll also notice you've got more wounds and bf after any given fight...

Someone told me Mitigation only works in PvP. Guy has been pretty much right about anything else related to the game, so I have no reason to doubt him.

Hi,
i am Master Fencer.
I dont think so i whas this morning in Senex Cave. Pretty overspawned!!
Always attacked buy 10-25 Enemys. When i wear my Pistol i got many hits and damage when they shoot on me.
When my Health whas on half i switch to Fencer and turn on CoB. At this Moment they dont hit me anymore (Melee Defense at 116)

npcs and spawn have a VERY narrow damage spread...so you don't really notice mitigation.
funny thing is they're removing mitigation in PvP inthe CR last thing I heard....which means they might as well remove it completely from the game (though personnally I think it's a bad idea)

Those who are involved in the CU are under an NDA not to reveal anything about its details, so unless a developer makes an announcement consider everything you hear about the CU to be a rumor and not to trust it.
Note that I am neither denying nor confirming anything about mitigation either, I'm just saying anything you hear about it that's not straight from the developers shouldn't be trusted.
This is particularly important because in the next few weeks, you're probably going to hear a lot of rumors, speculation, and "nerf" cries. If it doesn't come directly from a developer or a correspondent.... take it all with a grain of salt.

Yeah... Correspondents might be given info they're allowed to share, I dunno. I'd trust a correspondent as much as a dev, but don't trust anyone else.

I'd say that's a good philosophy

I have noticed this. I'm a TKM and had to resort to synthsteak, neutron pixie, and force of will (yes I was incapped) when taking on a quenker relic reaper lair. I was wearing 80% Kin. resist Comp. and had 2400+ Doc buffs, 3 brandies going, canape, etc...
Pretty ridiculous considering I usually take out a lair without losing any HAM really and don't use steak or spices. Huurton Stalkers still are pretty easy, but they are landing stun on me a lot more. Something has changed since JTL.
Only bar they were hitting seemed to be Health. See the Jedi Forums for more info. One theory is that when a state is landed, it now completely negates melee and ranged defense (i.e. melee defense = 0 while stunned, dizzy, intimidated, blinded and also with bleeds, poison, and disease). People have reported as soon as a state is applied, the MOB will not miss until the state is gone. Also, mitigation does not seem to be working (someone noticed no difference after dropping Mitigation 2 on the Jedi forums). Some are claiming that defenses from several profs aren't stacking anymore, but I'm only TKM and I've noticed the difference. Toughness is a possibility to I guess, since this mod only works against melee and usually makes a big difference.
Any further info on this would be great....

I have a slighlty different question, but I think it would fit into this thread
As a TKM your melee and ranged defenses are low .... does it help to get fencer 4000 ? And how will it affect combat ?
Does it decrease the change of someone hitting you, or decrease the damage done to you ?

Yes, I have noticed the same thing, my health and action bars drop dramatically to what they used to, I didn't know what it was so i had my stats migrated and that didn't help. Also, I noticed that NPC pistols and rifles hit with greater accuracy and do more damage, thanks for the heads up regarding the revamp.
( Now to finish fencer and a little pistol techniques 1 )
