The answer to this will vary a lot - I'll tell you what I know (PS this relates to me as I'm Zabrak):
Most attacks will hit either your helmet, your chestplate or your boots. I have come across droideka that will target your legs. In general I think you are safe though. However, there have been rumours about armour holes appearing with recent patches - I suspect they are short term. It remains speculation whether you will eventually need to wear a full suit to protect yourself.

Obviously you can't wear boots so I would wear pants instead, I guess this is the next best thing.

all bets are off with trandoshans. the one trando in my guild is referred to as the walking armor hole. a human/zab/mon cal/rodian/bothan only needs to wear four pieces of armor: 1) helmet, 2) chest plate, 3) gloves, and 4) boots. However, with the uniquely sucky anatomy of a trando, the boots and gloves are out. I'll see if I can get my pet trando to post over here. maybe he can explain it.
bottom line: trandoshans have serious issues when it comes to armor holes.

I am the walking armour hole
I currently wear a Chest Plate and a Helmet, nothing else. This is for PvP and most PvE.
I generally avoid high end PvE becausea trando simply can not do it. Even if you wear as much composite as possible, the chances of a high end mob 1 hitting you to hte hands or feet is very high. Especially something like an elder with a power hammer or LVA.
If you really want to PvE reroll. Trandos are garbage.

I must say i can hanle NS pretty well (all but Elders), but i do sometimes get hit pretty badly ..... spellweavers sometimes hit me for over a 1000 damage ....
I'm not gonne reroll
.... took me long enough to get this template

armor hles are definatly here i'm a 1-0-2-2 tk and iu was wailing on a tusken captain when all of the sudden i go from full health to having 200 points. i'm a master swordsman too so i pull out my hammer and finish him off but when i looked back at my combat log i saw this
Tusken Captain has used (cant rember name of special) for 2400 damage
PVE 80 kin 71 base Comp Helmet blocks 2341 damage
armor holes are back and they are bad.

personally i typically only wear a tantel chest plate for PvE. somtimes i will throw on a comp chest plate if it is a high end that i can handle (read: no elders). for PvP i will wear the obiligatory 4 pieces, but i am begining to wonder if it is even worth it to do that.
in any case, for TKM's, armor should be more of an option. not a requirement. especially if it is PvE.
