Thread: How are some TKMs so fast?

Hi, I'm grinding my way up to TKM, right now I'm at 1-1-3-2 in the TK tree and I've been "macro'ing" at the spawn point behind the space port in Mos Eisley. Most people there are also running macros and I notice some of them are so fast, I never get a chance to even attack. On top of that, their range is incredible. They routinely kill NPCs in one shot that are standing far away. I'd say they're standing about 15 or 20 feet away in real life. Does that come with becoming a TKM, or is it a result of their armor or something else they're wearing?

I'm using 80% comp armor and VKs (I believe either 1.8 or 2.2 speed.) I'm now on Dantooine and happy to say I can take out two quenkers unbuffed. Still getting my ass handed to me by the freaking cavemen though >:-(

Oanin Easra, Gorath, CL90 NGE Jedi, noob all around.

Talenn Jace, Bria, CL90 respec Jedi, former TKA, Not so Noobish all around

Should I grind a new Jedi to 90 again since that's all there is to do SOE?

Yes I'm a respec and an NGE Jedi. Yes, I hate NGE. Yes I agree, pre-CU FTW!

Gaining TKM adds alot to your skillset, now as far as kills 15-20feet away, not sure at what point you recieve the "youre out of range " message.

They're probably using /unarmedlunge1

This increases the range you can attack in, and attempts a posture change. I think that's granted early on in Brawler, or somewhere in TK. I don't remember exactly.

The reason they hit so fast is that a TKM is speed capped at 1 hit per second. At your current level, it probably seems pretty fast, heh. The Master box in TK grants nice damage bonuses, too.

If he's swinging at 15m then he's lunging, if he's hitting them at 20m then he's using lunge2(master brawler). It may just be an optical illusion on how far he really is hitting them, most specials I've had experience with will hit up to 10m out. He's probably just loot whoring there since TKM's get about 1 xp per kill at that spawn.

sometimes lag makes it seem like the guy is far away when he killed him, but in reality he was right next to him

Speed is in the Power Tech tree therefore most people will get KD1 first then complete the entire xx4x branch to get the speed and damage increase at the beginning of their grind to TKM. The attack with increased range is in Brawler (lunge)...at Master Brawler you get unarmedlunge2 which is an 20 meter KD attack and you also get +5 to melee speed. It is possible that these other people you have been seeing habe Master Brawler as well....I have it and I think it rocks.

The rumor's a lie. You can't get past that 1 second/hit cap even with FS skills.
