what gives?

anyone that can explain how it works and what im doing wrong i will be very gratefull

the TIA you dont notice to effective till master, and when you wear armor, it acts like you have no TIA(i read this post by a dev few days ago dont remeber where), but if you use improved CoB+ the tkm TIA, its a pain to hit you, and if they do, usualy you can fully regenerate before they can hit you again(mind you ive mainly tested this in PvP, still gotta test PvE)

Um... Have you actually tested Improved CoB? They hit me just fine.. even when I'm playing tripple master for defenseive bonuses and offense stacking.

At novice TKA you get Innate armor +20. Any piece of crap armor that you can equip from another prof that you have will absorb more damage.

Going up thru the balance conditioning and power techniques trees gives +2 for the first two blocks, and +3 for the last two blocks.

TKM gives another +20 to innate armor, for a grand total of +60.

It is innate, so it's not something you equip or have an icon for. Equipping ANY piece of armor will negate the innate TKA armor, and only the equipped armor will provide defenses then.

There was another post with a chart that showed that an innate of armor of +60 absorbs 48% of the damage, and in testing that is about the number i've seen (dividing damage absorbed by total damage dealt).

The thing is, a novice swordsman could equip a set of battle armor that absorbs a higher percentage of damage than a novice TKA could, but the novice swordsman will suffer penalties to movement, accuracy, and rate of fire, while the novice TKA will not suffer any such penalties with innate armor.

As the swordsman and TKA move up in their professions, the swordsman gets mitigations to reduce the 'encumbrance' of his armor, while the TKA gets more armor overall that doesn't have any encumbrance.

Hope this helps a bit.

There is no 'icon' for what I was before, but it was me.

I have a question to tack on to that. Is the innate armor only effective when unarmed or does it still apply by haveing the skill box required for it, even though you equip a melee or ranged weapon? My computer is too much of a wuss to download testcenter and the discussions on the CU leave me realy confused after reading through all the complaints and arguments. This is more then just being curious because the template I'm going for will already be difficult enough, but if the innate armor only works unarmed then that idea is screwed.

Use the stickies!!!

It clearly states in the whole section on TIA in the CU FAQ that it should work no matter what weapon you are using, the only thing that should stop TIA from working is equiping any armour, thats it, nothing more.

Ya, I'm sorry, I usualy check around first when I'm looking for somthing but I just ran into this thread and the thought hit me and I panicked so I had to ask before I forgot. That's reassuring to know though, because I won't have to re-plan everything. I swear, every game I just have to find the hardest possible professions or classes.

I think I can help answer that.
As of last time I was on TC if you had TKM and no armor on, youcould wield a sword or pike and still get the Innate Armor. Whether or not this is working as intended... well I doubt even the DEVs know.
Put on armor or a ranged weapon and you loose the TIA.
You only have as much innate armor as you have skillboxes for it. You only get the 60 Rating at TKM.

I haven't been on in a bit... for if I spent too much time in TC I'd likely cancell my subscription and burn my SWG CD's with a big smile on my face... so don't take my answer as the absolute truth, just what I think off the top of my head.
