Hi everbody!

This is my first post on this board, and i hope you don't mind my untrained english.

Ok, i play a Teras Kasi on Gorath. As i came in to SWG i liked the Idea so much playing an unarmed Character.

This is somehow wonderfull for playing RP, cause i wanted to play a studying member of an old fighting style.

Now i am short to Teras Kasi Master and i found something out. I can't survive without a Vibro Knuckler.

This is strange, i thought. Cause everywhere i read something about Teras Kasi its mentioned to be a "unarmed" fighting Style.

So, i am just interessted in how other Teras Kasi Players see that the way i do.

Farewell Dorga

P.S.: Is on Gorath something like a Teras Kasi only PA?

If you are not buffed, avoid to spam special moves with a VK.
Unless I fight a medium or heavy armored target, I usually dont use mine, warcry, intimidate and blind are my best friends.

Don't worry you'll survive without knucks, they just make life easier on certain situation. In generally unarmed combantants (wonder if this is correct word...) train unarmed along the weapons. And well you can use same techniques with vk than without so..

Vibroknucklers are the fix for pvp encounters against armored players. Try pvping without them against someone in a good kinetic resist suit (composite or ubese)and you'll see why. In pve, you should be able to live that unarmed dream if you take on...well just about anything...without your knucks. In fact, more often than not you are better off to go without knucks just for the simple fact that you burn much less HAM, can do more specials, and need to heal or be healed less by self inflicted HAM cost damage.

I take on nightsisters in groups (have done as many as 5 at a time with help of course) and I don't use my knucklers until I have one a step away from death. I put it on, go unarmed3 on it to finish it off, unequip it and get to putting the status effects on the next one, and so on. If I use the knucks I would burn my mind out WAY too fast to stay standing against them since they attack mind constantly with their force powers.

Yep once you hit master, vk's are only needed for stuff with lots of armor like in PvP. I rarely use my vk's now the mind cost is too high. I take stormies down in seconds with no vk's...well that is if they would quit running, the cowards. After all how scary can a cute, short, pink Twi'lek be?

You dont even need master. I was able to start without VKs at power techniques 4.

Don't use the VK's except in PvP against armored opponents. I dropped VK's for general use when I made master. I never go into major combat unbuffed and after buffing I use foods to enhance my mind stats ( Rum and fried chicken...yum ) and have the ever present Muon handy just in case.

I can take out Stormies without VK's easily ..... especially if they are being chased by a cute, short, pink Twi'lek....

I've always thought VK's are kinda like oversized brass knuckles or the equivalent of spiked gauntlets. I guess I considered someone "armed" if they are "holding" a weapon (sword, gun, polearm, etc), rahter than having weapons "attached" to their hands, like vk's or brass knuckles or spiked gauntlets. Someone with a suit of armor with spikes on it I consider "unarmed", even if they use themselves to smash into people with the spikes, for instance.

It's a subtle and not clearly defined difference, of course, but it works for me

Actually, Teras Kasi isn't meant to be Unarmed. The Unarmed part of it ends after you've finished Unarmed 4 - Novice TKA. If you read what it says under Novice TKA, it says you will become a formidable fighter using your fists and feet: Nowhere in there does it say that you'll HAVE to fight Unarmed. I, for one, like the way the Developers pushed VKs to Novice Teras Kasi, it helps to seperate Unarmed from Teras Kasi, Unarmed being a prereq. and TKA being able to use his/her fists if they want to, and a Vibro Knuckler to help increase the damage/fun! So, it doesn't say "Unarmed Specialist" it says "Teras Kasi," you just have to fight unarmed first to get it

Being a new TKM, I love it. Went to Dantooine to fight some FS NPCs and owned em like a red-headed step child. This was without VKs. I hardly ever use VKs now. Took on 3 dark side savages at same time, just using the brandy drink as a buff. UA3 special took em down pretty quick.

So even with light armor, VKs aren't really needed. But medium or heavy, yeah, will be handy to have.

I hardly ever use VKs. Only when im fully buffed and PKing. As a master tka, ive found that 'bareknuckleing' it is much more effective for general PVE.
