This may have been addressed, but I spend most of my time in the Smuggler forum...but what is Unarmed Center of Being?

What is it?

How do I use it?

Is it broken?

It is a skill that every melee profession has, and it boosts your defenses. Use it by just hittin it on the toolbar right before you are about to tank somethin, it only lasts like 20 seconds or somethin though. Im not sure if it is actually broken, but it always seems to work good for me. If it is broken it is still useful.

I don't have it on my toolbar ... and couldn't find it in CTRL-A ... I guess I will have to look again.

Now that I think about it, I think I was looking under "center of being" not "UNARMED center of being"

I'm pretty sure center of being is a universal skill, for the toolbar anyway. The skillmods depend on the weapon you're using.

you get center of being with novice brawler so it's just "Center of Being" and yes it's in the "other" tab and not combat.

What is it?

Center of Being is a skill mod recently added to allow melee players to tank more effectivelly. There are 3 defensive mods in the game one for each melee profession and a hybrid mod (defensive acuity) for TKA's. COB raises this defensive mod for a short period of time. It is dependant on the weapon you are using. Forexample the moment you equip a lance the game will use your polearm COB mods and ignore any other COB mods you may have.

How do I use it?

If you hot key it to a tool bar you just hit the hotkey. Otherwise you just type the command just like all others. The duration and effectiveness of COB depend on your COB skill mods which you acquire as you advance up your chosen melee profession.

Is it broken?

COB works very well for fencers and swordsmen. For pikeman it's useless because their defensive mod (block) still allows damage so when they use it they actually take more damage and not less. For TKA's our defensive mod is defensive acuity and that's not working so COB for us is generally considered by many TKA's to be broken. I personally never use it because well. . .I feel it's broke.

Hope that answers your questions.

It definitely helps me. I get more evades/dodges and blocks with it running. I always enable it when I'm tanking more than 3 tough enemies (and even solo enemies when they are very tough!).
