I love tanking. Weather it it krayts, DWB MOBs, GDKs, NS elders, etc I love soaking up all the damage they can toss at me. I like knowing that people in my party are kept safe because of my TK abilities to soak of damage. I like the ranged people in my group going 'I can't believe you are tanking that thing!' For me this is what TK is all about.

I love it too, especially with pistol techniques for extra defencesand CoB macro, states never seem to stick much and I can throw specials all day with brandy and ahrisa in my stomach.

I'm a smuggler/tkm/pistoleer and it seems to be an even better tank than just a straight TKM, the extra defences seem to help a lot....now if I only had AP2

Is it because of TKMthat you canaccomplish this? Or is it more because of buffs, chef food and comp armor?

I enjoy been the tank quite alot, but I will admit to hating to be the one to pick up the armour bill most the time. The one thing I do hate though is tanking a 100% mob. Simply as, even though what I'm doing is usful, I don't feel like it is, I'd sooner be doing very little damage then none at all. But maybe thats just me.

For many of us it's due to TKM & the group we have suporting is. With unbuffed with light Comp I've tanked two SBD's while unbuffed, I've also tanked krayts, GDKs & other such things in that way. I've also tanked Elders with Stun Battons while buffed & with no armour as I don't carry stun on me. Alot of it falls down to the others in your group (especialy the Docs & Combat Medics (I meen the type that heal not that other kind)). But many times I have been the last one left in the DWB when buffs have droped while trying to loot certain things & I've just kept on going to get a couple of extra kills while an SBD or two beat on me. I'm not even stacked much, I'm a TKM / Master Brawler / Master Swordsman who fights as a TK most the time.

The ability to tank is my favorite part too. I tend to group a lot with my friends so, while I enjoy being able to damage stuff on my own, I like tanking things for others.

In response the the question above, buffs, the ability to self heal with novice medic, and armor do allow you to tank well beyond what you should be able to. But, with tkm abilities in conjunction with chef foods, spices, and the like, a TKM can tank a lot.

My favorite moment as a tkm still is the time I soloed a GDK with no doctor buffs, no healing(I don't have medic), and some low ham 50% kinetic ubese armor. I took awhile, and it was really hard as the disease kept shrinking my hams. But it was doable and fun Of course I died the second time I tried it <.< But still it shows there is a lot you can do without having to depend on those silly doc buffs and 80%+ composite.

Aye, tanking is great, especially when it is against something big.

agreed the bigger the hitter or the bigger the crowd...the better the feeling of accomplishing something from tanking them.

kind of a god complex lol...knowing that we're all that stand between our group and death lol

Could a carbineer with buffs, chef food and composite armor tank an elder?

With someone to heal him a carbineer could. They do get counterattack after all.

Perhaps...I really can't say much about carbineer

But is it really the TKM abilities that allow one to "soak" up damage from these high-end MOBs? Let me put this another way.Could a TKMtake all that damage withoutbuffs, chef food, or high resist comp armor? Could anMaster Weaponsmith (same number of skill points as TKM)do almost as well in the same buffs, chef food, and comp armor?
