I am trying to decide between TKM as Swordsman. I am a novice TK and novice swordsman and I have noticed that I seem to do as much or more damage when using my VK as I do with my 2H curved sword. This is beacuse of speed. My question is can a TKM dish out the damage a swordsman can? This is assuming not speed capping swordsman and not using one of those stupidly expensive scythes or the powerhammer vs NS situations.

the thing is, swords have the advantage of having multiple damage types. the power hammer is blast whereas the scythe is kinetic. also, with acklay bones and geo hammers so plentiful, you could get a 500 max damage PH preslice, and get a speed slice to cap. you would do far more damage as a swordsman. also, swords is an advantage in that blast is one of the two damage types that elders are vulnerable to.
TK is very well balanced, but in reality the only professions that could match/beat a swordsman for damage would be rifleman, jedi, and a pikeman with a 1k+ max pike.

ASAIK a swordsman with speed tapes with easily outdamage a tkm. the key is maxing out the speed. but looking at your assumptions:
it would be pretty close and it comes down to personal preference. swordsmen do have different damage types-very nice. but the thought of swinging a hammer? *shudder*
give me the grace of martial arts anyday.

Im both and i prefer swords for killing big stuff however an mid level pve it doesnt really make much of a differance but if you want to kill Krayts or Elders go Swords tk is better for pvp though as more defences.
