Thread: Vibro motors and Knucklers

Okay, I am fairly new TK, up to 3-1-2-4.

My question is further below, but first some information and background:

I am getting the skill points for TK from my Smuggler tree which is slowly wasting away.

Knowing I was going to drop smuggler, I had saved up 52 locked containers over timein case I wanted to re-master smugglerat a later time. But last night I decided that I probably would not come backto smuggler and decided to slice open my 52 containers before dropping my last smuggler slicing box.

FYI for everyone... container loot is crap 99.5% of the time. I probablyopened 300-400 containersduring my smuggling daysand the BEST thing I ever saw was an SEA with carbine speed +4. Last night I got a couple of weak polearm Armor Attachments and a couple of weak Tapes. I did get a Swoop Helmet and a "Robe of Honor"... are theyworth anything?


Now on to my question:

From the containers I also got a couple of "vibro motors" ( I think that is what they were called - I am at work now ). These were both +10 minimum, +15 maximum damage. My question is, are these worth anything? Are they loot only, or can they be crafted? I thought I heard somewhere that they can be used when making VKs. Is it worth my inventory space to keep 'em, or should I just destroy them?

Those aren't bad, though the better ones I've seen are 20+ on Max Damage. Personally I'd find a WS and see what results s/he gets using those. Either way, I wouldn't consider them a waste if I had them, though I wouldn't rush to find a WS either.

EDIT: oops, forgot to comment on the Swoop Helmet and the Robe

I don't care for the Helmets at all, but that is just preference. I would classify it as rather useless though. The Robe of Honor is nice for "Ceremonial RP" instances, and can generally at least fetch a thousand creds or so to the right person. Not much but it is at least better loot than a broken datapad.

I'll throw the robe and the helmet on the bazaar. I havea WS friend who is leaving the game soon... I'll ask him to make me some VKs with the VMotors before he goes.

On the motors.


I might be wrong here but they sound like the same type of motor that can be crafted. Did they have a full set of stats or did they only have the damage mods? If they arethe craftabletype (Vibrounits I think they are called) then they sound like they might be very low damage.


As I say I could be wrong on this, but I think what Ryutek was thinking of is the motors which go in to making the vibrounits (normaly looted of Nym's on Lok) & the stat on those is then added to the base stat of what the WS can make normaly.I can't say I have ever heard of Motors which have both min & max modifiers, normaly they just do either Max Damage, Speed or Wound chance (there may be others but their all I've ever seen, & I'm not even 100% sure on the speed ones.) so I do have a feeling they are the crafted type. Still probably worth geting them checked out incase they will go in as an enhancer.

Grabage, garbage, garbage. Save the inventory space and delete them. What you have there are components, meaning they replace the vibromotor unit that the weaponsmith would otherwise put in the VK and I can guarantee you the ones the WS will use will be much much better than those, unless of course he's a complete novice WS. As mentioned above, what you're probably looking for are ENHANCEMENTS, not component replacements. High powered vibromotors that drop off Nym and some other Lok NPC's are what typically go into VK's as enhancements.

And yes, there are speed enhancements. I looted a couple -0.2 speed enhancements off of some Garyn (sp?) NPC's on Rori.

I am also a wpnsmith when it says vibro motor that is what we can craft. the high powered vibro motor that you loot on lok is what you want to be able add as a componet in making vibro motors and that is how a weaponsmith is able to get his max dmg over 200 with a good damage slice.

So the answer on your vibro motors with them being 10 min 15 max go ahead and trash them.

Good catch. Its way to early for me apparently, that or my mind just hasn't really shed that grogginess that comes from having only a couple hours of sleep. Sorry for the confusion Wayne

I just got some VK's made with Nym motors (+20) in max dam.

The WS made 146 max dam vk's. Then i had a damage slice, and ended up with 205 max dam. Best i have had, but a store nearby have some 219max dam for about 400k if im not mistaken.

currently looking for some VK's with DoT, wanna try that out to

& I think he typoed it. 146 + a 35% damage slice is only 197 max.

Thanks all... I'm stilllearning about the TK profession. The two I asked about are the garbage ones. I talked to my WS friend this weekend and he agreed with you all and said to trash them - he makes better ones. Oh well.


By the way... I MASTERED LAST NIGHT AT ABOUT 11:30PM!! WOOT!! ....then I went to bed because all that flailing had worn me out!
