Thread: PvP as Teras Kasi...
Right now I'm only a Teras Kasi Student, and had never done PvP until the other night. I was challenged by a Heavy Swordsman shortly after I disposed of a novice brawler who wanted to test his skills. I disposed the Swordsman about as easily as the novice brawler. Should I expect more of this as I get further in the TKA line or was I just a better tactician?
Would appreciate feedback, thanks...
i've been pvp'ing as an overt partaking in raids for only a couple days. i um... am not very good yet
if i can get up to somoene in the chaos of battle, i have a good shot at finishing them off. conversely, if they see me coming, or i am pulled to them because they are shooting at me (just like an animal... i need to work on not getting pulled/kited so easily) then my success rate drops pretty close to 0.
i've been sparring with other melees for a couple weeks now, since the moment i got 0242 (specifically, the +15 toughness and power 4). those bouts were all 'no kd, db, heal' arranged consentual duels, and i've only lost to 3 different people, all of whom were tkm's, and 2 of them were before i became tkm. i've sparred against swordsman and pikeman, but not fencer. the only fights that were close at all were against tkm's, all the other fights were, well, not close.
I love PvP'ing with TKA, it's just so much more fun than using a gun. Well first off, the biggest thing about using TKA in PvP is to know exactly what yourmoves do. Take time to practice your moves on some friends, and take note how long each move takes, the range of the move, the effect or status effect of the move, and damage. TKA is the greatest brawler profession because of the variety of moves available. With all the status effect, pool targeting, pos down/kd, and high damage moves, a master tka can employ many strategies in PvP. My tip to you would be to level through tka first, as master tka and higher level ones can employ the most strategies and do the most damage. Also, if you are getting kited don't forget to use your lunge(novice brawler ability, i think) while running at them, because it has a 15m range and does a pos down on your opponent allowing you to close the distance. what strategy you use from there is of your own choosing. i wouldn't mind giving some help/tips or practice with you if you're on the valcyn server. cya
Right now my intentions are to be a Teras Kasi Master, Master Brawler, and Novice Smuggler...so I'll have plenty of pistol power to handle the kiters when they run if I can't catch them on foot. I also have Exploration 4 so speed isn't an issue for me. Also have a nice suppliment of med skills for healing. Should be a force to be reconned with once I'm maxed out ;-}
Thanks for the feed back, it's greatly appreciated. Also, thanks for the offer for training, but I'm on Intrepid.
PvP is actually pretty easy with tka, I think. If you can hit a knockdown/dizzy combo on someone they aren't getting up until they are back in the cloning center. The tips above are all good also. Another I'd like to add is don't run into battle with a Teras Kasi title over your head, you're just asking to be kited. I've found its best to run straight at them with a pistol, most of the time your opponent will just stand there like an idiot. That's when you put the pistol away.
