How do you use these in PVE? Do you use Dizzy 1st then Knockdown - or the other way around?

I just got both yesterday, and I was playing w/ some dessert demons and I slapped a dizzy then knockdown, and they got up after 5 or so rapid attempts... is this usual?

it's the usual now it seems....it goes from NPCs staying down forever to NPCs being knocked down, but still able to stand and attack at normal.....now it's just a useless skill.

Nonsense. In most cases they are still down for 30 seconds (which is admittedly shorter than forever, but still useful). While down, you get a significant damage boost. While down, they will not get as many swings in (they will get some, but they are less frequent).

Note that right after the patch, they seemed to always get an attack in every time they tried to stand up. So you really only benefited from the damage modifier. But last night fighting NPCs, the number of attacks that they got while knocked down seemed significantly lower. Like maybe 1 attack every 4 attempts to stand up.

I will admit that dizzy + KD is less useful than pre-patch, but it is far from useless. I still use it routinely against individual and groups of NPCs that are beyond my level in a straight, stand-up fight.

ok. I've had Kd2 for a week or so and almost every time i use it i get a knockdown AND a dizzy but i have yet to see a target stay down for more than 10 seconds and that was once. Thoughts?

Im not too happy about this myself either... Not that the NPC should stay down forever but with KD/Dizzy they stay down for maybe 10 seconds at the most...I did find a small solution to this problem though... If the NPC does happen to get back up use a lungeon it... The NPC will be forced to kneeling and usually doesn't have enough AI to know not to try and stand up again while dizzy....well theres you KD again...usually buy the time they get up again (if there not dead by then) you can KD/Dizzy again

Ops sorry Noccs... forgot to awnser your orginal question... Personaly i think that you should alwasy Dizzy first and then KD... if the NPC gets back up use a lunge. One other thing to mention is that KD/Dizzy will only work on humanoid's.. this technique will not work on creatures... if your looking to keep a critter down longer use KD with a combonation of warcry, and get yourself some bio clothing with + intimidate/warcry, expecially a form fitting undershirt cuz you can wear that under armor. this will help you stick warcry MUCH better

What I do is use KD2 on npc's, then hit them with 2 or 3 dizzy attacks, depending on if the dizzy hit or not. In the combat log it will register damage but you have to wait for an additional combat spam that says 'X looks dizzy!', once I hit 2 of those then they almost never get up again, and you can pound away. Of course, thats only on the harder npcs that I can't kill in two UH3 hits

And like the other poster mentioned, once you have the good and dizzied, even if they do manage to get up just lunge and knock them down again.

you still get a damage bonus when they're on the ground, not useless.

They don't stay down!!! You use it, they fall down for less then a second and stand up, fall down, stand up, fall down, stand up...you don't get any damage bonus if they aren't on the ground!
