i know there are plenty of TKA's that have taken up some fencing, i'm looking to do the opposite and was wondering if it's worth mastering TKA or just dabbling. Does anyone have an opinion?

wait until you get tired of fencer. I mastered TKA and the very next night starting working on Pikeman. I quit after about 20 minutes just because I want time to actually ENJOY mastering TKA. I want to play the game as a master TKA and take a break from the "grinding".

Once you get tired of fencer then go ahead and take TKA.

It's a lot of fun.

oh and do it all.

The ONLY thing you could skip would be the precision striking line. It gives defenses and you have plenty of defense already as a Fencer. Also the ability to target any HAM pool doesn't matter to a fencer (those are the specials you get in that discipline). You already target the health pool which is the pool most hit.

The power discipline will give you . . . well power and the balance discipline will give you a few more defenses vs various states but more than that it'll give you 2 knockdowns (which fencer doesn't have apart from master brawler). Meditation will give you the ability to heal disease, poison, bleeding and wounds and you can't beat that.

I have no intention of dropping fencer at all, i'm looking at putting together a master fencer that dabbles in some other professions. I am considering going into pikeman or tka and was looking to see if anyone has done the same and has advice. Sorry, my post may have given the impression that I am jumping off fencer before i play it. I'm not chasing holos or plan to move away from fencer at all. I was considering mastering tka and fencer together but there's a few other things i'd like to have and the points don't add up well...

Can you tell me exactly how the wound healing works?

An example, last night in PvP i got set on fire and put down to 500 health from 1150, how much meditation would it take to heal me back up to 1150? I understand the healing of DOT things, but the wound healing is new to me.

once you get meditate 4, you can go into your meditation state and your wounds will heal up. pretty cool.

Novice TK - Heals bleeding

Med 1 - Faster Bleed Heal & Heals Poison

Med 2 - Faster Bleed/Poison Heal & Power Boost (Boosts HAM 1/2 of your Mind Pool)

Med 3- Faster Bleed/Poison Heal & Heals Disease

Med 4 - Faster Bleed/Poison/Disease Heal & Heals Wounds

TKM - Faster Everything

Poison and Disease heal almost instantly with meditation. Bleeds decrease faster and eventually stop(kinda like using first aid over and over really fast). I can heal over 150 wound damage in under 20 sec of meditation at TKM. Only thing you need to go to town for is fatigue. Tk isn't totally dabble friendly in that you lose alot of damage output and one of the best specials if you don't take it to master. You have to ask yourself if you will be playing as a fencer with secondary TK skills or vice versa. About the only thing you could effectively dabble into with TK would be meditation, which btw is a very underrated tree. If your looking to stack defenses then pistoleers have us beat in that department. They will also add to you dodge...well at least for now. You also have a dizzy/posture change so the TK one isn't much better except that it stacks them into one special. If your worried about getting kited at all or enjoy range combat sometimes then I would recommend only taking meditation from TK and getting some pistoleer stuff to finish of your template.

I have actually healed disease at meditation 2.

Of course I'm master now so I can't go back and verify it but I think I was able to heal disease AND poison at meditation 2.

Oh I know you didn't want to drop fencer. I was just saying have a little fun with it first.

I was going for master pikeman/master TKA. I got master TKA on sunday night and monday night I started grinding out pikeman. I thought to myself "I JUST got master TKA. . . I'm going to play with this and ENJOY the mastery and ENJOY my hard work before I move on to more grinding"

That's all I'm saying.
