Thread: TKA, Watchers of the Jedi
As many of you know, the common belief and idea, is that the TKA are the watchers of the jedi. We are meant to keep them in check, from becoming power-hungry. While I feel this is a just and reasonable way to assess the role of a TKA, I also think that for a TKA to keep a jedi knight or master in check is just plain silly under the current state of TKM. I understand that the patch has brought us up to a more tank-like status, but in some respects, we are over-powered. I have not heard of any other melee class being able to solo kimos or krayts.
If indeed we are supposed to keep the jedi in check, we would need to be boosted much more in all aspects of our profession. I love being a TKM, and i like the idea of being a watcher of the jedi. But in the current state, after padawan, all we will be able to do, is watch them kill us with ease.
I think the possable solutions for this might be to either add another tree to the TKA profession. An elite-elite profession if you will. Where if mastered, a TKA Grand master could at least slow down a jedi. In no way do i think they should be able to defeat a jedi solo. Rather it would require 2-4 Grand masters to handle a single jedi master. This is the way i understand the TKA be in the storyline.
The other idea, is to make master TKA harder to achieve by adding more skill-requirements. Make it a hybrid profession. This is a pretty self explanitory idea that i have seen in some other threads.
The third and final realistic idea, would be that TKA, atthe jedi watcher level, is something that happens in a similar way that becoming FS happens. But without doing all the professions, but rather completing many different tasks and quests that would help a TKA to achieve knowledge and understanding. Completing these tasks could unlock the afore-mentioned extra tree that leads to Grandmaster.
AGrand master wouldbe exactly what it sounds like it would be. A master in martial arts and inner peace.Taking on a great task such as this would of course have similar perils to becoming a jedi. Bounties and maybe a 5-10 perma-death. But no Tef. TKA were not known about by many, and thus would not be a known"instant enemy". Where as the jedi are known about by all.
I realize that i am dreaming, but if we are supposed to keep jedi in check in the current state we are in, we won't be able to. Many people are screaming nerf because we are finally able to win duals agains ranged and have become a factor in PvP. Right now, we need to focus on these current issues. But when all the nerf talk dies down, this is something that we will probably have to adress.
Tell me what you all think. Beings that you areTKA,i am eager to see how all of you feel about this.
PS. I am TKM on radient. Send me a tell or email with any questions or beefs, or if you just want to do some goodold timeTKA duelsand or hunting.
This is not a flame or anything, and I like your idea.
But please point me to the SW guide, or book that lists TKA as a watcher of the Jedi.
I have read a lot of SW books, though by far not all of them.
The only referance to TKA that I have found, off the top my head is, Guri from the book "Shadows Of The Empire" She as a specialized battle droid and bodyguard for Prince Xixor. Any rate Guri was a tka master, and was undefeated, She fought Luke in hand to hand. Luke defeated her quite easily, Using just the Force.
Now at this time, Luke was or could only be classed as a Jedi Knight. It would be many years before luke would become a Master.
Putting that into perspective. I think we as Teras Kasi masters would and should have a tough time fighting an unarmed Jedi. Let alone one with a sabre.
Not flaming you!
TKA are not Jedi watchers.
This Idea is Fan Tale.
If you like this as a background story great, just dont expect to get any bonuses. After all a dancer could be a jedi watcher. Watchers watch, py that is all.
TKA is a martial art in the SW galaxy. God or evil can practoce it including jedi and sith. Of course thy would need to find someone to teach them.
Finally this has been discused before in other threads if interested.
Pluses:
I like the idea of a grand master tka or lets say echina (what crimson guards practice), we should use as much points as a bh or comando to achieve this. Master brawler should be a must. And perhaps this grand master idea can aply to all melee in order to have diferent fighting styles.
Also like the idea of four (maybe 2 should be a good chalenge) grand masters v. a jedi. after all if jedi become way to powerfull why would you want to play one where would the chalenge aspect of the game be.
I think TKA is preety much where it should be, unless thy decide to meke an elite, elite profsion. Perhaps there are some things that need fixing but only little ones. Like Cob, it should not be as good as the one from other melee classes but at least it should work even when using specials.
Well enough rambling, hope this givea little insight if any.
Thank you silth for the response. I was unsure of the TKA story line ingame and thought it was that of keeping the jedi in check. If that is not the case then i understand what the TKA prof is meant to be in game. That being said.
Cor brought up a good idea with the royal gaurds martial arts studies. If those were a possable prof or "FS" type of achievement, i think it would bring a lot more content and interest into the brawler professions in general.
Again, thanks for the intelligentresponses guys, it just proves that TK is truly an elite profession.
Every other play data from the D20 rpg from Wizards suggest nothing special about Teras Kasi. I already mailed them but have not received any anwsers yet on the subject.

What ive seen on the roleplaying books only talks about TKA as a MArtial art.
In the Eu novels both Jedi and sith characters practice it.
I sure wish an EU novel would talk more about tka or that some other source of reliable info would be brought up. Perhaps the devs will shed a light about the origins of tka someday.
Oh by the way, In Shadows of the Empire it is never mentioned that Guri is a TKA. She does fight Luke hand to sabre but no mention of her being a tka.
The mentioning of tka in the mentioned novel refers to the Pike sisters. It mentions them beating up 8 stormies and not even building up a sweat. Nothing about them fighting jedi though. (page 13 i think).
Here is the quote from the Star Wars Encyclopedia, as it appears in our TKA faq:
"Both a martial art and an Order. The Teräs Käsi were formed from the remnant civilians of a long-ago battle which devestated their home world of Palawa, a war which involved the awsome powers of the Jedi Council. The few survivors of Palawa migrated to a nearby world called Bunduki, where they decided to master mind over body so they may keep the Jedi use of power in check. The Teräs Käsi are thought to be sensitive to changes in the Force, and Teräs Käsi Masters are feared by the Jedi. But Teräs Käsi are not generally Force users as Jedi are: Teräs Käsi draw internal, personal power, while Jedi draw from everything around them."

I took this from my best friend tech-doneeta
OK OK, everyone lay off Hobbes for a sec. Teras Kasi's did not originate on the Ps as much as u guys might hope. If u really read into star wars, which I do (I practicly have a library) U will find that, Thousands of years prior to the sith war, while the primamry hyperspace lines were still being maped out, There was a line of Individuals who were known as the Teras Kasi. These individuals could harness an energy field, and use it to minipulate the world around them. The Teras Kasi were warrior people and had no technonology. When their planet was discoverd by the hyperspace mappers several of the kasi favored the idea of technology and several more did not. A war broke out and thetech supportingkasi were losing badly. As a result they turned away from blasters and their hands and developed a new weapon... lightsabers... Make a long story short the lightsaber proved to be an effective equalizer and the original Teras kasi were nearly extincted. ONE of the survivors, who lost her arm to a saber was Ardyn Lyn. She went into a meditation that perserved her for several thousand years. She was discoverd by Palpatine well after the clone wars and awaken. she didnt like him but they had a common enemy in the jedi. She became one of his agents and was fit with a robot arm. She betrayed him and tried to kidnap him but he overpowerd her and she fled and now her wareabout are unknown. Some developer thought she was a cool charcter and made her the base for some crapy PS game. So there u have it... the TKA do exist in the force, they did fight the jedi and nearly win, from the TKA the Jedi, and Jenasarrie formed. So yes TKA's do have alot of power in this game, and to be honest I dont think they have enough. Im not a TKA and i dont plan on being one, but they should be a nearly equal match for ajedi.
Ii have quite a few books and comics myself, but Ive never heard of such story.
So if you could please be more specific (title, year, etc....) as to where you got this info I would (and probably many others) apreciate it very much. I never heard of TKA being the predecesors of Jedi. As a mater of fact I though t the jedi origins were not even entirely known.
So please more detailed info would be apreciated.
/Agreed
The only problem is that there really is no story. So make up your own and have tons of fun.
Well at any Rate, despite how guri fought, she did fight Luke hand to hand, not hand to sabre.
You are right though that those sisters was what the book was referring to.
