Is that the best class to add to my Commando? What is so good about TKAs? I thought about rifleman. I am asking about TKA because people have told me it may be the best class, but I don't generally socialize much, and websites (including Station) don't have much information about what a TKA does. I am even thinking about Smuggler now, because of the publish coming up. No flamers please, I have to deal with enough immaturity in-game and am asking a serious question.

It'sa good idea to acquire some additional combat profession skills. Commandos don't get much in the way of defenses or resists. I recently picked up TKA and hope to master it. Since commando uses unarmed, it was a logical choice from a skill point perspective. Swordsman and Fencer are good too, you'd just have to spend some extra points if you're gonna be a commando. I've only been a TKA for a few days but I'm really diggin' it. I've also been considering taking up pistoleer (I have some smuggler pistol skills already) but I've been happy as a commando for quite some time. That flame thrower comes in very handy (for a while at least).

I just dropped Master Commando for TK. Tk is awsome, the Meditation line is priceless. Commando is getting a big nerf, I would drop it if I were you. The new Flameout will reduce damage by 90% for the first 5 attacks, thus crippling the commando profession.
And some Commando's on TC said that dots don't do as much damage as they use to(Double Whammy)
Just go TK rifleman like everyone else. It's hard to beat those guys.

I'm currently TKM and am working on getting commando for flame DOT. I've been TKM for a while now and would have a really hard time giving it up.

I was asking myself this same question a few minutes ago. Not more then 5 days ago I dropped commando for TKA. Whenever I duel a fencer, chances are I'll get hit with posture down and dizzy. At this point while kneeling, if I had the flame tree completed... taking out the flamethrower and using flame2 wouldn't be too bad. Unfortunatly, due to the wonderful nerf (as mentioned before), commandos will be even less effective in pvp.

Yeah. On TC, the commando burn has gone down hill. Now, each player can only stack 1 of EACH kind of DoT (1 health bleed, 1 burn, 1 action bleed, 1 mind bleed. Not sure about CM poisons). Multiple commandos can still use the same burn, but only 1 from each.
Also, the burn has been knocked down a lot. Also, armor and resists now come into effect of the burns. If a mob has 80% heat resists, then the damage from the burn will be down 80%.
My commando on Valcyn is not happy. Good thing I only play on TC now with my tka/maste medic.

I dropped commando for TKA as well recently. I looked at it like this; I trained in 5 lower skill trees (pistols, carbines, rifles, ranged support and unarmed)to get one higher lvl tree (flame 4) as all other commando skills are crap;while as a TKA I can train in one skill ( unarmed) and get 4 high lvl skills. Then with the extra points just make a killer template)

I'm a 0/4/4/0 commando/master tk'er and I love it... I'm very versitle in pvp, and most meleers when they see the flamethower in my hand will come up close to me to try to go hand to hand with me...fools...lol Anyway, I love it... I don't see any negatives to picking it up... Both professions are very powerful and like someone said before, the Meditation tree is the best line in the entire game... Add Powerboost to the commando, with the ability to use Force of Will... Pretty darn unstoppable...
