Has this been brought up before?
For one thing, Fencer and Swordsman's new requirements are interchangable with each other. Maybe it would be good to allow Pikeman and TK's to be interchangable as well.
As it stands, Pikeman has the most to lose out in skill point cost among all the melee professions if they wanted to mix with another.
I can also accept the idea of proficiency wooden staff and combat staff as prerequisites for TK. I think it makes more sense than 2-handed.

I thought the same myself ... if you train in Martial Arts, you're more likely to train in a staff as well than a claymore.

see the thing is 1h and polearm lead to you a very effective D stacker 2h isnt as beneficial as 1h or polarm when it comes to D stacking a TK.

In response to the topic...
No.
- TK/Swordsman will be THE best solo melee template.
- TK and Pikeman are both tanks.
Also...
TK/Fencer, TK/Pikeman, and TK/Swordsman all cost the exact same amount of skill points to be spent in prereqs.

Aye, was one of my first thoughts to when i read the profession recuirements.
I altso belive Pikes would be the most "sensible" choice. Ore maybe 1 handed.
2 handed is kinda weird, but i hope it works out ok. maybe some cool "TK" looking 2 handed weapons will make sense "if that is possible"

From a certain perspective, the 2h makes sense in that you use "two hands" to fight unarmed. It would also make sense to use polearms because, as mentioned above, most martial artists at least train in the staff. One hand does not make sense to me because how many martial artists fight with only one hand? lol. Oh, and now there is the Vibro Blade and Vibro Knife...one is unarmed and the other is one handed. Makes sense to me, really.

Althought it makes little sense logically from a balance point of view it makes most sense to have 2h as the TK pre req, that way no two proffesions have the same pre reqs which would lead to inbalance through stacking.

But the point is that you can adjust the other prereqs to make more sense too.
What I suggested was this...
TKA needs Unarmed and Polearm (polearm feels more like a martial arts kind of thing)
Pikeman needs Polearm and Two-Handed (because both teach you to use long 2-handed weapons)
Swordsman needs Two-Handed and One-Handed (because both teach you how to use swords)
Fencer needs One-Handed and Unarmed (because Fencers need evasion skills, their weapons are small)
I'll be perfectly honest though... The 4 branches of the Brawler tree are identical. They all give the same special moves. The only difference between them is what weapon-specific bonuses they give and add what tier they give which move. From a gameplay perspective they're all the same, all that really distinguishes them is logic, which one makes most sense as a prereq for which profession.
2H doesn't make sens at all for TKA because 2H doesn't mean "using two hands", otherwise you could use lances and staves with it. It means using a 2-handed heavy melee weapon.

I much prefer those pre reqs. Certainly makes more sense and makes it more viable for pikemen to dabble in swordsman. Maybe that's what the devs were trying to discourage?
I have to say I'm very disapointed at how generic the marksman and melee trees are, very few unique specials. Disapointing to say the least.
