Thread: Well the CU is being pushed ahead without needed fixes...

If I'm MIA you havn't been reading enough. I've started one thread, replied more in the Top 3 thread, that was yesterday. I'm not replying to nearly every thread like I often do as I'm trying to test as much as I can & add information to the Top 10 list I have submited, as well as posting in the Corre forums. One thing I will very rarly do however is reply to a whine thread, I may read it, I may take notes from it, but I will very rarly reply.

As well as other testing (Ep3) going on at the same time, theres lots going on & you will probably notice I'm posting more in places you can't read. So yeah, I'd check before you make acusations that I'm MIA, as I'm obivously not, & if you even just checked my last log in date you would see I've been around, I keep my online status public so anyone can check if they want.

I love the CU, I think it's great & is really pushing the game in the right direction. However I do not feel it's at all ready & I don't think it should be going live yet, but the decision has obviously come from higher up the chain then any one that posts on these forums so it's happening. That doesn't meen changes won't happen, as they will, so right now the best thing to be doing instead of whining & crying is to continue at what the TKA forums has always been best at, been constructive.

That meens no sky is falling threads, not threads on single issues just as you don't like them. Just constructive feedback on your experiences.

Well, this is the first I've seen of you in awahile Mankind, perhaps I've been avoiding most of the "constructive" posts lately. Ya see, my constructive posts, just as alot of the other good ones that I've tracked over the past month have gone unanswered, and by the looks of the current CU unheeded.

I would really like to hear in what ways the CU is going in the right direction, most especially for TERAS KASI.
I think the CU with a couple excpetions is an absolute waste of time and my money.

The professions are not ballanced at all.
I can solo anything in PvE with the proper ranged template.
CM rules PvP, save Master Defender Jedi.
GCW is in even worse shape than ever.
Lag is far worse due to the fruity new sprites.
Crafters are being screwed.
The level system is just plain dumb with the damage mitigation and the extra HAM per level garbage.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

If they are going to push this live we will be starting all over again.

Despite massive protests, and huge flaws in the core game, "they" are telling us players (customers) to bend over, grab our ankles and shut the F*&% up.

Not only to disfunctional TKM but the whole game as well.
Repent for the end is near! ... I think thats the best advice I have for my fellow TK.
It really is a shame, such a great game gone to waste.

For all of you who think that the game is better now, I pitty you. But I am postitve that even all the SOE kiss@sses will come to realize this soon enough. There is no ballance. There is no diversity. There is no strategy. Its all dumbed down generic RPG bull$hit now.

Anyone notice Mankind is MIA by the way?

No answer yet?

Hmmm I'm thinking maybe SOE abducted the old mankind that I respected and had confidence in, and replaced him with a CSR...

I know this isn't directed toward me, and realistically I should not respond to you in order "to promote a positive and constructive atmosphere," but I have a few things I'd like to say, and I'm not sure how much longer I'll have access to the forums (my account has been cancelled, and I believe the subscription ends on the 29th of April).

The Combat Upgraade is definitely taking the game in the right direction, even though you cannot really see that at this point. The CU should never have been rushed as it has been, and that is the reason I will not be a part of Star Wars Galaxies any longer (coupled with some other things that are related, but not from a content perspective).

The professions will need to be tweaked still, I agree. It should never go live without them being tweaked, but my guess is that LucasArts has mandated that it happen to coincide with the release of Episode III. Again, it should NEVER have been done this way.

I despise the new graphics, and I agree wholeheartedly that lag is a major issue. This, again, relates to the fact that it should not have been rushed in this manner (the graphics I could adjust to, but the lag is horrible).

The level system is a tried and true method for making certain that encounters scale accordingly. The way it was implemented here coupled with the professions getting balanced should make this game an extremely enjoyable experience. I hope that day comes, though I will not be here for it.

Yes, everyone will be starting over again. Yes, it will feel (and actually be) a different game. I think it will (provided they move quicker than in the past with fixes) make SWG a very good game, and that it is better for the game as a whole.

You insult Mankind with an apparent lack of understanding about what his position entails. He has done an outstanding job in what I have seen, and I respect him wholeheartedly. I hope that one day you realize the error in your aseessment, but that is your opinion to make not mine.

What I despise, however, is the way this entire CURB fiasco has been handled, though I cannot go into more detail, it is the driving force behind my reasons for leaving SWG behind, not the actual premise of what will be changing. In short, yes the CU is being pushed ahead without needed fixes, but it is going in the right direction for the betterment of the game.

No longer holding out hope, SWG will never be the game we fought so hard for, that we believed so much in. Farewell friends.

Kasamatsu:
I direct you to read the Terms of License and Agreement ( more specifically the second term). Yes, the one you agree to each and every time you log in.
Actually I'll post the second term for you:

2. To play the Game, you must: (i) purchase the Software (as defined below in Paragraph 7) for Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided and any expansion packs you wish to play; (ii) have a fully paid Account; (iii) have a valid credit card (or, if we wish to make it available, a paid game card); and (iv) have an Internet connection (which we do not provide or pay for) to access your Account. In addition to any fees described herein, you are responsible for paying all applicable taxes (including those we are not required to collect) and for all hardware, software, service and other costs you incur to access your Account. Neither this Agreement nor your Account entitles you to any subsequent releases of the Game and/or the Software, any expansion packs nor similar ancillary products. You understand that we may update or otherwise enhance the Game and/or the Software at any time and in doing so incur no obligation to furnish such updates to you pursuant to this Agreement. You understand that online games evolve over time and, accordingly, system requirements to play the Game may change over time.

Since you agree to this, you accept this fact. So now you're complaining and calling it a new game. Clearly you've blindly agreed to the game's Agreement terms. This is SOE's product. They have the license from LucasArts, and have freedom over this particular title ("Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided", and its expansions "Jump to Lightspeed" and "Rage of the Wookiee's")

QFE on the majority of the post.
but...
First off, what new graphics? You mean the "Cartoony Particle effects" like the elemental damage (cold damage would make appropriate graphics of ice forming and breaking on the opponent, acid would make a greenish-yellowish goo explode (say with a scythe) when you strike the enemy)?
Things like mount/dismout and area heal need to be toned down dramatically, SOE did go overboard with the effects, but overall the majority of effects I have no problem with at all.

Otherwise the game itself looks the same. There is no difference in how the world or the characters look. It looks exactly like Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided to me. Just different mechanics.

This game has for a long time needed a change. The only thing keeping me in it (outside character customization) is the Roleplay.

I'm actually happy to learn that I'm not the only one who see's beyond the nerfing of professions and the way the game will be played. (like combat levels, whats the big deal?)

I agree with you on a majority of the post as I stated above.

However I won't be keeping TKA, I'll be respecing to another profession (lookin towards pistoleer). It's not because I dont like TKA post-CU, in fact I wish TKA pre-CU now was like TKA post-CU. But with the respec, It'll be like a free profession. I heard ranged profession grinds are horrid. so is/was the TKA grind (at least from novice brawler to novice TKA)

"Ray Shields."
"Wait a minute! How did this happen? We're smarter than this!"
"Apparently not ... I say patience"
"Patience?"
"Yes. Artoo will be along in a few moments and he'll relase the ray shields."
"WOOOOOOOAAAAAAOHHHH"
"See? No problem."
"....Do you have a plan B?"

Everyone has opinions about the CU, and we all are entitled to them.

BUT, as mankind's guild leader Ill tell you a few things, if you think running down another player (yes, he pays to play just like you or I)for something you dont like is a valid way to act.

Since the CU test center went active, he hasnt logged onto his live characters once.As a guild we have all created toons to help him collect data, but I know he has spent all of his available spare time on test center, in the corres forums doing his best for this profession.

When you was making assinine posts here moaning about the CU, he was trying to improve it, to get your issues heard and resolved.

Now , I bet all of you have made screenies or lists of your best items so you can report conversion errors, planned any respec you want, maybe even grind out a little xp to make the respec easier?

He hasnt, his characters that he pays a monthly fee for are as they were when tc went online.

So, haver any opinion you want about the CU, you are perfectly entitled, but suggest Mankind isnt doing everything he can for this profession and I'll tell you straight.

You are an idiot.
