Thread: Need experienced TKA players thought on prof after CU..

Hey yas.. I'm just wondering if I can get some good thought on the TKA prof from those experienced with it, and there thoughts of it after the CU. I'm just trying ta gather some good thought on what would be a good prof to hit now after the CU and since I was interested in TKA before the CU and not hit it yet, just thought I'd check to see what you'll thought before I try and hit it.. Thanks for any ideas into it.. or if you got any other thought for a better prof.. Looking forward to hearing from yas.. Cheers

you may want to go ranged...or go to TC and try it out yourself....been a long time TK and a bit peeved by the damage i can give now....think 150-250dmage...(with VK)

I have never been a tka pre cu, but i can give you template advice conserning it. It's a tanking proffession by design. Dont expect to do massive damage with its special moves. If your looking to be viable alone i suggest mixing it with a dmg dealing proff like swordsman (fencer works too). I love the defences it gives and not having to wear armor, but dont use any of the attacks from it cause thats not its strong point.

I've been a TKM since the first Jedi grind, and have stayed TKM since. The CU makes TKM (and I'm sure all the combat professions) much more challenging. I had stopped playing for the past few months since the game got boring - get uber buffed (have a 2nd character that was MD just for that), put on good armor, and just grind, grind away. The CU is now an infusion of unboring for a while at least as I learn new ways to use my TKM skills without dependence onthe crutchessuch as buffs in the old system.I now cannot solo my way through an NPC dungeon (or probably any dungeon). A red mob now means that I should stay away rather than spend all of a minute or two taking it out, but taking on 2-3 NPCs at my level or two higher and winning is much more satisfying.


There are bugs in the CU that need fixing, but even with them, I'm back to enjoying SWG again.

the only lvl 78-82s that you can solo now (as a MD/TKM = lvl 80 myself), are the Imperial NPCs in grey uniforms.

You can take them off one by one as they do not come to each other's assistance, must be a bug. STs heal themselves and can be alerted from attack against their colleagues.

With a pikeman as my buddy we are able to hit for 11-13k of xp per kill (in view of double xp).

Taunt works pretty well to keep the atention on a tank, though it is not perfect. However, what does work well when fighting mutliple mobs is having ranged fighters stick to one target, and having the tank taunt and hit the rest so they stick on him or her. Unless someone heals or shoots them they keep going after the tank.


When I am tanking I usually go with legsweep, taunt, armor break and dizzy, not with damage specials. An armor break by me will do more to kill an opponent than a strike or hit, since it makes the rest of the group hit that much harder.

Well, I have been a TKM for quite a while loved this prof.

Since the CU i have tried to give TKM a chance but quite

simply i now find it boring to play.

The lack of animations for moves is very poor, plus somehow

we seem really slow. The prof does not seem to gel somehow

and combat seem PVP seems to be non-fluid leading to a kind of BAR FIGHT

type slugging match.

Its a great shame i have now dropped this previously great profession

for Master Rifleman and to be honest in my humble opinion this seems

work muchbut better than TKM in terms of feel and is much much enjoyable

post CU. Ah well i have to try out a few more profs yet but i dont like TKM anymore...


My hope is that some changes will be made that will let me return to this previously

great prof.


Anyway i hope you find a profession to suit your requirements.

Before CU I loved TKA, I was a tkm/fencer and was able to solo just about anything. Now TKM/fencer sucks, cant kill a even a noob mob. CU imo made TKA very weak and boring. No moves just punch and kick. And to the person that says CU made TKA tougher, my foot it didnt, I feel very weak, im lvl 75 and have a hard time killing a lvl 16 mob. I cant even do a regular mission solo anymore. Im very disappointed in this CU and about to cancel the two accounts I have if sony doesnt do something. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way, ive played this game since released and always loved TKA, but now it suck and I'm not wasting my time redoing a profession i dont want to do because CU screwed up a perfectly able profession. Tank my rear end, hell a bolle bol can kick my ass now.

Well, I was a TKM pre-CU and Post-CU. Post CU i was taken to half life by a lvl 12 Spineflap Soldier. I was lvl 60. Granted this was the first day of live CU. So i took the /respec to a ranged proffesion. Was a lil better. That was before i made the sad descision to /cancel all my accounts tho.


I would just take advantage of the /respec ability and see if you like it or not.

I can tank in the DWB now, with CL 56 in a CL 80 group, and I could even solo a SBD level 81 in there.
TKA's are tougher now, since TIA works against melee and ranged damage, as does CoB. Damage-wise we have a bugged combo attack, if that would get fixed we'd be decent to strong in offense.

Pre-CU, a TKM, fully armored and buffed was by far the tank of choice. Standing in there toe-to-toe with the bad guys and showing them who's boss. But post-CU, tkm is just some unarmored fool standing in front of me until I can find the SOB that's doing the real damage to me.

As it stands right now it's a joke to call us TKMs tanks. This DPS system is a joke and it's broke. Cuz I'm also a rifleman and I like not being bothered by those pesky mobs. Let them stay 65m over there with my buddy Tieg the TKM and I'll just shoot from back here in the shade. WHAT THE HELL!! One shot and they all come running for me!
