Just wondering if anyone wears armor and if so what types you guys have, I currently have never even worn a set with the exception of bone for 1 fight. Do tka's usually need armor or do we fare better without it? Also what type would you recomend wearing?

I wear Ubese myself, it is especially good at blocking Kinetic damage, and that is what melee attacks are, so when you're in something's face trading punches, it does the best job. Ubese is not very good against Energy (blaster) attacks, but all my pieces have some resistance to that.

Chitin is a lower-level armor, and therefore easier to come by, and it protects against both Energy and Kinetic, but does neither very well =) If you want cheaper Kinetic protection, get Mabari Armorweave. It won't protect you from blasters, but it can get really nice melee resistances for as light as it is.

Bone usually doesn't protect me at all; it is highly specialized for Energy protection and will not block melee attacks at all (read the Armor Crafting special on the SWG homepage for details, but basically wearing it while taking Kinetic damage means every point of damage you suffer is also being lost from your armor's condition). Bone is, however, what you should don when PvP'ing as a TKA, I think.

I just got a set of Bone from an Engineer on Starsider for a character I have there (not my TKA), and it has about 20% Energy resistance! I was really surprised that newbie armor from a lower-level crafter could get that good. Anyway, it blocked well over half damage while I shot it out with 2 Mauler Acolytes; I never would have survived that fight without armor.

So, pick your armor for the situation. For instance, if you only have Mabari and you're taking incoming laser blasts, just wear cloth, the armor isn't going to help you at all. Given time, you'll figure out what's best.
