Thread: Being Kited by NPCs!!!

Its a reality check when i go to use my TKA on2 NPC rebels and take out the first one with a knockdown and know i must keep spamming it or I will be kited. The NPC will easily get outside my range and shoot the crap out of me. So I use this tactic on the first one and takehim out (I am covert so icould get close to the first one without it aggroing). Well now the first one is down time for the second one, but wait I am being kited! Unequip my VKs and use lunge 2 I am told. Well i am not a master brawler and don't have the skill points available to get it, I just plan to be a master TKA. I have a rifle but it does a different damage than my TKA so I switch to it thinking maybe he will not kite me if i run up to him with a gun equiped. No such luck now heis kiting me again. Well I am about to die I better run, now he is chasing me. Good now heis headed my way, I run towardshim again so i can get him in my knockdown loop so i can keep him from kiting me. Oh craphe is kiting me again. Is that the sky I am looking at? Now this rebel walks over to me and does a deathblow. But wait now they just nerfed spamming knockdown so I can't keep one from kiting me even. Guess i better use my rifle to kill all the mobs that kite. Guess that means to get my imperial faction points i need to just use my rifle. Hmm what about the other people playing this game as that don't have a ranged weapon, well i guess they don't need to participate in PvP anyways. The developers have said as much so guess its pointless to get faction points for that character anyway. But whay about the other mobs that kite? Well you shouldn't hunt those should stick to your own kind melee mobs. Its the obvious choice. Glad I have my trusty rifle by my side. Moral of the story don't plan to get by without a ranged weapon unless you don't care about the galactic civil war. The melee professions are designed to be a tank for the ranged professions to absorb all the damage when they level so they can get ready for pvp. Honesty the only reason i am not a pistol wieldingfool isthat they listed the ablity to twirltheir guns and have holstersas 2 of their top 5 professions concerns. I can't be that much of a pansey so I am going to keep using my melee due to my sadist tendencies and belief that gameplay should come first. But in the long run something is telling me that i am going to be using my rifle more and more. Not because its my main choice as a weapon. No it has to due with the fact I hate losing. I wonder if i will still be a TKA in another couple months?

Amen! Death to all kiters! Perhaps for their rifle to be effective they HAVE to go prone. For their pistol to be effective they HAVE to kneel. Otherwise, they take penalties. Oh wait, they'd gripe about that too.

It's a no win situation. The fact is, TKA is NOT suitable for pvp unless you get in the first shot and knockdown works on the first try. Otherwise, you're screwed.

I have not taken a ranged weapon skill. I want to spend my skill points elsewhere. So what am I to do? Conform or don't do pvp. This sucks.

Unarmed Lunge works good for me against those kiting NPCs(like those annoying Rebels)- but make sure you unequip your knucklers first as wearing them will drastically reduce the range of the move. When I use it itnormally brings them to their knees and thats easily enough time to catch up with them and hit them with a knockdown or few.

Ok, I have read alot of complaints about TK in PvP and I just think it comes down to a few important issues.

Being brawlers we dont have alot of range obviously, but that said we are far from useless if you use the terrain well. Also, the follow command is key. I have seen quite a few TK's fight, and they get close and do everything right but use the follow key. They Use lunge, but as soon as the person they would fight got up, they would just kite the TK that didn't use follow, which made it that much harder to pull off unarmed lunge. The advice above is also right, unequip that vibroblade if you want the full range of your lunge move.

The way I see it right now is it takes more skill on our part as TK players then most marksmen and that is fine by me. Let them all play on easy mode for now. Take pride in the fact that while it may be a little harder to kill someone, but it is far from impossible.

Also, when they reduce the damage in PvP by 75% that will dramatically change things, giving us more time to close with the ranged classes. TK are still by far the most deadly class when we get close, and we also have some of the best defense around which will help even more with the damage reduction.

I have been in my fair share of PvP battle and have done quite well actually, and Im not even a full TK master yet.

Also, I kill npc's all the time without being kited to bad, again unequip your vibroknucklers if they start to run and hit em with lunge. It works.

My own personal solution for dealing with gunners lies in being a CH...send in the pets. I send a webmaster into a rebel camp, they all start shooting it, and I just run around knocking the buggers off one at a time...and since most npc's of this type have little or no armor, I just keep my knuckler equipped when I use knockdown 2.A few of those and most npc's are quite dead (especially the rifle using ones, god I love knockdowns for 4500 dmg =)

However, when I don't have my pets with me, or an npc is agro'd on me instead of my pets, I've noticed that if you stop chasing thenpc gunnersfor a second, they'll stop once they reachtheir "preferred range" and start shooting again. As soon as theystop, I run up and make sure they don't get a chance to stand up and run again =)

Just my 2 cents while I wait for the fargin servers to come back up.

/emote seconds what LirielTheDrow said.

You're not actually being kited like PC's kite. It's the AI of the mob that says "get away from the player whose going to clean my clock!" And after they have gotten to that range (they won't run forever, just like 30m or so away), then you can run to them and lay the smack down on their candy a$$.
