Thread: Armor piercing rating
I just read a rather informative post on armor effectiveness, and began to wonder, "How effective are TKA attacks against armor?"
I can't "examine" my hands to see how much damage I do, or what their armor piercing rating is. (Anyone know what the rating of knuckles are BTW?)
I suspect it is the worst piercing possible, which means that while riflemen can use their T21's (when the resources spawn) and slice through the heavy armor, I have a nagging suspicion that TK's will be doing about 2.5% damage to another player in composite armor. Thats right, two and a halfpercent. (3 armor layers, 20ish% kinetic resistance, and 75% PvP reduction = .5*.5*.5*.8*.25 = 2.5%). This doesn't even consider personal shields.
I don't think this is an issue yet because suits of very heavy armor are still rather rare (thankfully). However, as in all game econimies, money just keeps going in. Eventually everyone in a battle will be decked out.
I think instead of VK certifications (or even use) there should be increases to armor penetration in the TK tree. This would also increase the TK damage against unarmored opponents by 25% per armor layer.
If you're unarmed, you have AP 0.<br>If you're wielding knuckles, it's AP 1.
The way I understand it, all personal armor is AR 1. The layers in armor are there to protect against different types of damage. Since VKs are AR 1, you should do normal damage (less the resistance value of the armor) to all armored players.
