Got my first real taste of PvP last night since making Master and had a real good time. Luckily there is a Master Medic and Expert Bounty Hunter (thanks to Knoxy and Eisman) in our PA that complimented my TK skills. I have read all the posts about us getting owned in PvP, and about kiters, and all that jazz, but I still had a good time. The only moves I used were lunge, knockdown, hit 3, and mind hit. I broke even on faction points which means that I killed more than I died. For those of you thinking of switching to a blaster, read this first...

Expert Rebel Bounty Hunter running away from me, Burst Run, then Lunge and he drops tokneeling (I can picture some 14 year old blaster jock spamming the up key as he sees my big wookie pimp hand coming to lay the smack down). Got close, but not close enough for knockdown, continued to chase and hit with Lunge again, back to kneeling and then the hurt came, knockdown move for 1,000+ damage and a mind hit for good measure. Bam, no more bounty hunter. I only had about a quarter of all my stats, but I just stood over his body and waited for him to stand up, did Knockdown 1 'cause I wanted him to see my shoulder in his face...

Then I deathblowed him. Naturally he clonedand he hit me with eye shot from several 100 meters away through the wall of the star port! I think this will be a lot more fun when the 75% damage thing kicks in too. Hehe, I guess we both got what was coming.

Good stuff. Mainly though I think most melee (not just TKA) are simply upset with the apparent attitude that the devs have shown towards melee vs. ranged. The post by Holo yesterday was pretty much a slap in the face, and honestly leads me to believe that somewhere down the line that if melee does manage to find some viable tactics vs. ranged that these tactics will be nerfed to fall in line with the vision that they have for what is supposed to happen.

Yeah, I am not sure what will happen as far as balance among the classes goes. I am just going to enjoy the game, enjoy the friends, and keep on laying the smack down. T-Wulf is doing a great job, and the response he got was a direct insult to any respect the person that answered those issues had for his time or our profession. I actually feel bad for the guy having to mess with all this crap only to get a quick 5 minute response to our top 5 issues. I could have come up with more insightful answers than that clown in less than the time it took him to type the emote for that winky smiley face he seems to like so much.

I even had a guy tell me I needed to get some sort of ranged attack after I healed him from an incap! I told him I could hold my own and then totally decimated a guy that was attacking him at range but was standing near me. After he saw that, his response was "Wow, what profession are you?!?" Teras Kasi baby, and don't you forget it...

As long as people are still having fun though thats the important thing, and I myself am still having a great old time. PvPing very sparsely, as I want to finish up my template before I actually partake in anything too seroius. This message board drama stuff is alot less important while actually in game, its really only something to do while killing time at work. *grin*

Honestly, I think the real "chance" that we have in PvP is that low blow in the smuggler line is relatively easy for us to get. It's a ranged KD skill and I plan on using it as a closing tool with a CDEF pistol to keep the HAM costs as low as possible. I know it's not a puristic strategy, but there you go.

How much range? I already have unarmed lunge 2, and that guy is a 15 meter KD that doesnt cost much with/o vks on.

Thank you Scuddbacca!! I haveprinted your messagefor future reference. The next time I get attacked in Anchorhead by some 13 year old wImperial blaster jockey I'm going to use those tactics! I've lost count the number of times I've been one/two shot incapped and DB by someone who is a blue dot on my radar. This tactic might give me a chance to go down fighting for a change. Thank you very much, I thought I wouldn't ever be able to finally "return the favor" in PvP.

Krellian's #1 SWG rule for Jedi:

This game is SWG - it is NOT Return of the Jedi, You are not Darth Vader and you are not Luke Skywalker... you see someone you don't know personally - run, run like all the demons from hell have been unleashed on your gimp a$$!!

AFAIK, Low blow has a 64M range, like any other pistol skill (besides pistol whip anyway).

Heavy I am with you, im currently working on both lines and trying my butt off to get pistol exp as well as unarmed. I am working on master smuggler/master tka, and belive me, this is not for the faint of heart. You have to 2 different lines of combat, given the underworld isnt as expensive, but still, fd works great with my tka as well, but this new Knockdown cost is upseting me and I am going to start working more on smuggler then anything

Knockdown is our PVP weapon, and im already down to 1000 health and dropping a lot of that into action for the cost of moves.

guess I will have to fd more often now
