Thread: Question about possible template(s)

Hi all,

I recently came back after a long vacation and trying out a few templates.


1.5 years ago, I was MTK and MCH. I liked it very much. But because most of my old pets weren't callable anymore I decided to test a few things out.

I was >1 year away from the game, so if I sound newbish, please look over this :-)


At the moment, I have sub-standard equipment (I assume). Wearing some duster without any mods ...


1. template was: MTK, MCM

I tried it out for a few hours and liked it.
Pro's:

- heals and rez

- DoT's for pulling mobs and additional damage

- PBAoE heal for healing fellow tanks and getting aggro ( I dont know how exactly aggro management works now, but i was able to get aggro fast and hold it by using taunt and this AoE heal (bacta spray, is it ?)

- quite much buttons to hit with all the debuffs, DoTs

- paralyze for short time CC

Con's

- very low damage (I need a very long time to kill a lvl 80 critter)


2. template was: MTK, MD

Pro's

- heals and rez

- some buffs

Con#S

- very low damage

- no range pulling method


So far so good. Now the questions:


At the moment, I like MCM more than MD. On the other side, there are many TKM/Sword/Doc templates out there, but no TKM/MCM templates (or not many). Do I overlook something ?


I am quite up to trying out different thing. The only requirements are:

- i dont wanna be a one-trick-pony. So the medic combination looks quite interesting (more than the CH combination, because the only thing I seem to get for this is some additional damage and (perhaps) some kind of CC by sticking pets on the adds. but it seems better, that i tank the adds anyway, so only some DoT remains.

- i want to stay MTK. I was going for MTK when the game was launched and ... well ... i wont change this :-)


What different templates are "fun" to play and versatile ? And in which way ?


How do I add more damage to my template ? Some suggetions are here to go for Swordsman / Pike. Is the additional damage only available, if I use swords/pikes or does it improve unarmed damage too ? I dont like the idea of using a hammer ...


And yes, I have read the stickies and many posts in the forums here. The problem is, that many questions are still open. It is quite confusing, if you come back.

MCM goes better with a ranged profession (IMO) read the MCM boards.

If you want to keep TKM then,

TKM/MSwords/doc 4-0-0-0
TKM/MPikes/doc 4-0-0-0
TKM/MFencer/doc 4-0-0-0

TKM/MD/Swords 0-0-0-4 (or pike or fencer not sure of which trees for those 2)

If you want MCM;

MCM/MPistoleer(or MR or MC)/BH 4-0-0-0 (or BH 0-0-4-0 or BH 0-3-1-0)

MCM/MBH/Pistoleer 0-0-0-4 (pistoleer 0-0-1-3)

CM-MP-MR-MC-BH all require ranged support which gives more choices for ranged professions (TKM reqiures brawler which limits choices with MCM)

I agree with Shadwe, however would like to add this option (my current template):


TKM, Sword 4144, Doc 4xx4. I get the benefit of sword specials but can fight unarmed in PvE (saves eating up gear) and have decent damage output with the doc haste buff (improved adrenal boost) from xxx4 block. I kill alittle slower than I did as MSword, however my action bar does not get used up as fast, I hit faster, and do nearly as much dps PvE as I did with my PvE hammer. When using my "good" hammer vs unarmed as Msword the damage far outclassed my unarmed, however I currently don't have any "good" knucklers so it is not a fair compairison.
