Ok, so here's the deal...
I gots me a hammer. Max damg around 1100. DPS around 530 (for those who like DPS). SAC is like 100
I gots me some Katarn Knucklers. Max dmg around 750or whatever it is. DPS around 530 (For who like DPS). SAC is like 75
Last night in PvP and PvE I used both. Let me tell you now for all the TKM/MS builds out there... if you're crazy enough to actully use a hammer... man alive... the katarns are a huge improvement on my dmg output. I used exclusively swords specials armor break,headhit, crit....
Man, I'm totally converted. I'm considering dropping Master Sword to get Master Brawler.

With TK 0103 and M Swords, Blaster fist 101 SAC, Powerhammer 104 SAC, same attacks eats more action with TKA than swordsman for some reaosn- but I'm liking power attack with TKA, the good old unarmedhit3!

your hammer must suck then sorry but katarn knucklers while fast dont compare with say the n-k executer for damage output or speed great sac on them but your so weak.

He he, I have a hammer like that. Cept the SAC is 126 /cry

The katarn's base damage is around 840 when you add elemental damage with its very low damage its possible it can do close maybe equal damage to that hammer.
However the katarn is loot and will decay to worthlessness. A hammer is crafted so not only can new hammers be made to replace the old, good crafters can make hammers that will beat a katarn.

Will th Katern knuckle do more damage than unarmed, when other weapons like the blaster fist doesn't? I haven't heard anything about it, so if it does then great, at least a TKA weapon worth using.
I like my PH, 582-1185 and 568-1165 max dmgs, both 104 (pre-CU converted) and with master doc, the addrenaline and action buff helps big time (probably with any combat prof).

first off youd be insane to trade master swords for master brawler, which gives you nothing but a big fat waste of points considering parry riposte and melee assualt are usless attacks, swordsman master with tkm weapon like the knucklers of katarn and the swordsman moves hehe youll have fun with that but youll regret master brawler

Crafters are making good hammers with decent sac now, slap a powerup in and go.

Use a pup on the katarn and the stats change but if the pups are the same ontheswordlogic says that the katarn will b just as good.

Two things. I heard that a pup will increase the decay rate. The second thing is that the katarn is loot. When its gone its gone and the decay rate on weapons and armor is high. With a ph you just have another crafted.
You can get a hammer that has higher damage,equal or lower sac with a pup, and its not from a once only quest.

Lets here it for pups hehe, if you dont want the high SAC of Hammers, get a scythe, they are faster, they have lower SAC standard, and they get up to around 850 max plus ~85 elemental, i choose the scythe over the hammer anyday, faster means more hits, and in an action drain versus another swordsman youll win, more hits equals more damage, the hammer doesnt hit that much harder, so if you have trouble with SAC get a scythe, but as for the knucklers if you have swordsman moves, damn use the swordsman moves, low SAC on the knucklers, you will be faster and do about the same amount of damge, hehe starting to wish i still had tkm grrrrrrr lol
