Thread: What other professions go good with TKA?
I've been thinking and thinking about this. And I'm still not sure what else I want to do. I'm a TK novice right now, working towards master. But I need a goodweapon prof. too.. So, I picked up the pistol, and I'm almost a pistoleer novice. I have enough xp for a smuggler, but I'd rather have fighting type professions intstead. So, should I try to go commando? Pistoleer? or what? Is thereenoughskill pts. to goTKA and Bounty Hunter? I don't think so, but just checking. Any ideas would be appreciated.
thanks
Ekryth Skyrunner.
I'm a TKA/CH combo and absolutely love it.
I can solo Snorbal lairs now.
It's great fun to get in there and mix it up with your pets instead of kiting stuff around like those sissy ranged weapon users ![]()
I'm currently a TKA at 0/0/1/0, and a CH at 1/1/1/1, it's a fun combination being able to just sit back and farm low lvl mobs for, hides/bones is nice, and being able to send pet's in during a real battle is alot of fun.
Me and 1 person for the past cpl hours were killing off giant Peko peko's on naboo, about 7k hams per each, it was fun being able to switch the tank from me to the pet, as I went along, and my friend would sit in the background and pistol, and heal both me and the pet, it worked out really nice and gave some very good exp.
Im working towards TKA/Commando right now.

Right now i'm TK/Master CH (TK 0,1,3,1)
I have to say it's a great combo if you solo a lot
These are my skills as of now: TKA-0/1/0/0(I think that's right, all I have is unarmed knockdown), Medic-4/3/4/1, Marksman-0/4/1/4, Scout-4/0/4/1, CH- I have no skills besides being a novice, I'm eligable for smuggler but I'm not really interested in that field, I'm like 15K from Pistoleer, and I have some other skills but none really matter. Anyways, I like the idea of CH, but the way I see it I'd rather be improving just my character instead of a pet. I wouldn't mind having a pet just for the hell of it though. I've been thinking hard on going commando just because if I go Master TKA, Master Commando(with of course master marksman) with all the rest in medic.. I should be pretty **edit** good on PVP and just going on adventures. Oh yea, I thought about carbineer instead of commando for the fact that you can use knockdown with carbineer too. But, could I use the carbineer KD from a farther distance and then run up and use my tka KD right after? Or is a KD a KD no matter what prof. (going by the 30sec rule.. which sucks! lol) Because if I could use both KD's during same target then I should be kicking ass on PVP. Just a thought. I hope this all made sense..

I used the same rationale for getting the Low Blow pistolknock-down, but the last patch really did a number on the Smuggler's Dirty Fighting line's effectivemess. If they don't repair this line, I may go commando. Of course, after you hit an enemy with a commando weapon, there is no need to finish him off with TKA skills because he is already finished.

I am a TKA (0, 1, 2, 1), CH (1, 1, 1, 1), and almost master carbineer. I am going to drop CH, because I usually never solo and almost everyone else in my PA has it. KD with carbineer eats up very little HAM compared to unarmed KD, which I'm sure you could guess.
I have used both in combination before. I have used ranged KD, then walked up and used unarmed KD. If the player is still down, unarmed KD does nothing to increase the KD status effect, just regular stat damage. Of course if he gets back up, you can use unarmed KD at your leisure, and it will work as it normally does.
I have found that using carbine KD and then spamming unarmed hit 2 does massive damage, so long as you play PvP one to one. I still think HAM costs for ALL TK special moves are too punitive, considering HAM costs for ranged weapon attacks are trivial in comparison.
Hello,
In a few days I will bea Master Brawler, Master TKA, Master Medic, and Doctor (0,4,3,0). Just finishing up my Master TKA now.
Master Brawler
Intimidate 2/Warcry 2: I help keep the MOB damage down. This seems a lot harder to do nowadays.
Berserk 2: If I'm low on Mind, I slap on my Composite and go Berserk2 for a few minutes and hope for the best
Master TKA
Major Damage. Period. I don't think any class can outdamage us.
Master Medic
Reduce Downtime. Heal when necessary. Stim D's are awesome.
Doctor
Buffing: 1-2k Buffs for up to 3 hours? Who doesn't want that?
Revive: Self explanatory for Guild/Group Hunts. ...although folks rarely die on my watch
Some things about things combination:
1. You can get kited like a ... kite. Get some faction pets, this will help stop MOBs from killing you using that technique. w/ the changes in accuracy while running, it's hard for PvPers to kill u by doing this nowadays.
2. Mind. Max that out, as well as the secondaries. w/ the ability to buff everything else, the only thing you risk dying from is Mind damage. Buy the mind buffs, they're worth the expense.
3. You're Slow. Walking up hills is more like crawling up hills. No scouting skills suck. (Oh, and no harvesting skills either.)
4. You depend on other people for things. This shouldn't be a problem since you will be rolling in the dough. Find a good Master Doctor to craft Enhance Kits. Find a good Master Chef to craft Mind food.
I know I'm having fun. It's slow gathering Faction, but I bet I'm gathering it faster than most other combinations out there. 21k Rebel faction and counting!

Master Brawler, Expert TKA, Master Surgeon
I am at a crossroads myself. I have to decide on:
A) Master TKA/Master Creature Handler with Dirty Fighting pistol skills
OR
B) Master TKA/Master Commando
Right now, I am working my way up the TKA, CH, and Dirty Fighting skill branch, but I don't know if this is what I want or really how effective I will be in PvP. I can call and tame up to one level 25 creature, but I have never had a really powerful pet yet (using Greater Sludge Panther right now).
Now that Commandos are working, all that high power weaponry sounds like so much fun.
Decisions, decisions...
