I'm hearing over and over now they suck

Whats the deal on them anymore? I was a Doc/Master Swordsman, going Doc/TKA now (non holo), was looking for a good set of VK's and heard they suck...

Most people don't like them because they have high ham costs. As a master doc I doubt you'll have to worry too much about that. Just make sure you take some muon/something to raise focus so you don't get mind incapped.

I always have doctor buffs, and I almost stopped using VKs at 0 0 4 2 because of the mind cost. That is with doc buffs, so I can't even imagine without lol.

First all my points are in my mind pools.

Fully buffed with a drink, food and PB buffs, the cost of my VKs are 15 points from my mind for every use. That is nothing. Without my buffs I cannot use them as I will kill myself through the cost in my health and action. Without my mind buffs the cost goes up to 51 points. But still nothing from the Health and Action pools since those stats are buffed so high.

Equip when buffed, take them off when you are not.

Depends on the situation really. I always use Doc buffs, and I find that having VKs is very useful against armored mobs. I use the VK until I can KD/Dizzy someone, then if I'm not taking dmg just take them off. I've found that Corellian Fried Ice Cream is a god send for TKMs wanting to use VKs. Its +400focus for 400secs.

I didn't drop the VK until I hit master though. UA3 really does a number on you, with 650 Focus I still use 15mind with no VKs on. That isn't a whole lot, but take a few shots to the head and you'll be hitting that Muon hotkey in no time.

i have all my mind stats nearly maxed, i don't wear armor, have low HAM (but reasonable damage) VKs, and i spam specials. i need powerboost for this, obviously.

there is a little downtime solo fighting like this, because i don't have medic trained and i don't use spice cuz i'm lazy.

when grouped with a buffing doctor (and i usually am), i'm almost unstoppable.

of course, a doctor does nothing for mind, but because i am usually WITH one, i can have all my non-mind stats fairly low. i'm at about 700/400/400, 700/400/400, 1100/.../...(whatever is left). now, if i were a species that could have even higher mind, that would make powerboost that much better...
