Thread: Why do you need master doctor with TKA ?

Ok, maybe not NEED but, I am wondering why everybody that gets doctor with TKA goes all the way to master ? I understand that they want to use the best buff packs they possibly can. However, can you not use a Bor Cbuff pack that is quality made and get most of the buff points you would with an E? (or whatever the top one is) Thereby saving a ton or skill points by not going up all the doctor trees?

I do not know a lot about the doctor tree, (obviously) having never done it. so maybe that is where my lack of knowledge lies. so pardon my ignorance, I guess that is the reason for my question.

I am a novice TKA 2/1/1/2 and I am getting buffs whenever I can. I am alsoconsidering doing the doctor tree but, I seem to do pretty well with a 500-100 stat buff as I do with a 1000-2000 buff. Obviously the 1k-2k is much better but, is it worth the loss of the skill points being put into doctor? Why can you not just get the stats that allow you to use a mid-level buff pack and by them to use yourself from master doc's?

I hope I am not rambling too much trying to get my point out ... But thanks for the answers in advance

The ability to revive and craft nice meds are enough by itself. It is a useful profession both as a standalone moneymaker (crates of good Stim Bs) and to assist in combat (revive and buffs). 2 TKA/Master Docs are very formittable.

i do not PvP but i get the feeling that every single buff point you can eek out is important when going PvP so i guess that is why you see so many players with the "Master Doctor" title over their heads carrying VibroKnucklers

Because I was a Master Doc to begin with.

It also is a huge help in keeping my ass alive while I am in the middle of a Rebel base. Novice Medics do not get to use Stim E's and when you are getting hit for a 1000 points of damage every three seconds...Stims B's don't do squat.

That being said...I am dropping Master Doc to 0,4,4,0 which will still let me buff with slightly powered down Buff D's, use Stim E's and Rez my group mates. The only thing that will hurt is losing my Poison/Disease heals.

isn't the question why go all the way to MASTER doc instead of stopping a few boxes short of master?

What did you do with those skill points? And I have many doc friends as well, but they cant always come out to Dant to buff me, nor can they follow me to heal me and get rid of my poison/disease. Just some thoughts. Im not sure how far up Doc I'm going to go though... Master isnt looking that appealing to me, but I'll probably master it anyway, just to get the badge

1. meditation heals bleeding, poison, disease and wounds. Why go doc when you can just think it away?

2. I only play 2-3 hours at a time. I log in head to corellia and get a buff. There is always a doctor buffing there. . . always and I'm good for my entire play session.

3. My friend comes with me to dant. I kill stuff and he keeps me alive and I give him the herb meat I harvest. I haven't had to use my armor in weeks

4. The 140 skill points can go to ranger or another melee profession.

My basic theory is I don't want to spend skill points in something that money can buy. I want skills that money can't buy

I can buy armor and weapons so no crafting.

I can buy buffs and meditation does the rest so no doc

I don't need pets because buffed and armored I can take pretty much anything I want so no CH

I can buy enhancement tissues so no BE

I have no desire to be a ranged profession (tired of it was a BH for months) so . . .

That basically leaves another melee profession or ranger. I fell in love with the fact that as a track master I was pulling 100 units of hide from a single huurton on dantooine but alas the lure of pikeman is too strong to resist so I'll add pikeman to my TKA to make me a very effective PvE brawler.

Pikeman has cool animations and huge damage. . . too good to pass up. I'd try swordsman but I wanna look GOOD when I'm doing my moves

Besides I've wanted to try pikeman ever since I got this game. . . it's weird and they are broken but for some reason the class seems really cool to me along with TKA so I'll be a TKA/Pikeman/Scout with some skills dumped in medic for my final character build.

I'm having a doozy of a time debating keeping master brawler or not.

I've fallen in love with lunge2, warcry2 and intimdation2

Hey on another note did you know that as a 2-2-4-4 TKA ifyou intimidate a piket it only does about 70 pts of damage to you? With mitigation it's going to be even less! I think my current toughness is around 50 or so.

I have master brawler so that gives an extra +5 to toughness as well.

The reason for mastering vs. 4440is that there's just nothing much important to do with those skillpoints at that time. What else would you do, get a few more points in scout? Much more worthwhile to go ahead and master doctor. If you always play solo in this MMORPG, then you could go 0440 and then have a decent number of points to wortk with, but since I occasionally interact with other players I find the ability to cure poison and disease on othersindespinsible. It's very much appreciated in group PvP efforts.

Meditate will take care of poison/disease/bleeding after combat, but doctor can cure it *during* combat and on other players- crucial in PvP.
