Thread: Something I consider to be a major bug..

I am a TKM on Naritus and this bug has to do with when I am fighting certain large animals(Malkocs, Craggy Bolmas, etc..) and certaingiant avians like peko pekos (if you are standing on a hill)

I have noticed that it measures the distance you are from the animal from the center of the animal's body instead of from it's head- however when you fight the animal it constantly realigns you with it's head, distancing you from the center of the animal at 6m, effectively kiting you and keeping you from doing spin attacks if you are being attacked by a mob. What you have to do to kill things this way is to keep following and following the animal for hundreds of meters while you kill it..

Guys, if you are looking for a good reason for them to extend our range a few meters, here you have it. If our reach was 2 meters farther, we would not have this problem.

Hahah. I'm glad I'm not the only one from Naritus noticing the 'finer' points of Melee.

I swear they just need a "Lock-On" for all Melee to automatically shadow the movements of a target, keeping you within range of attack unless the target outruns your footspeed or you manually move elsewhere. Extremely irritating fighting with the lower-range Melee weapons.

something that helps me when I am fighting stuff that likes to run away is just simply typing /follow when targeting what im fighting...if it moves...I move with it and it breaks when the thing dies....nifty little tip

ive already tried the follow thing.. that helps some but not for these guys because you follow at 10 meters and they only stay 6 meters away

hm... I usually spam specials (without VKs when I am not on breath of Heaven), and KD/war cry creatures anway, so I seldom encounter that problem.

try killing a giant dune kimo then...from its head to the center of its body is 16m. so even the specials dont work. I chased one around lok for about 2k before i got him to turn around and go back to kimo town. Also took me about 3 hours to kill the **edit** using no specials and 70% comp armor, and buffed of course as i am a master doc also.

But anyway the chasing part was the part that annoyed me...

Ya, it's "funny" standing directly undera large creature and get the "out of range" message. You just can't use VKs unless you can knock it down.

Yeah I would have to say that I only have a real problem with the real big creatures like Kimo's and Kraytes. other than that its pretty easy to just run them down.

I think its a good excuse for an extended range.. or maybe they should, when calculating how far you are from an animal use a circle instead of a point

I have found that giant kimos are the worst to deal with. Almost impossible to use vk's yet they have no problem hitting you. Definately an issue that should be looked into.
