1)This is not just star wars game it's mmorpg. There is economy. We have to use some kind of weapons and armorto keep weapon/armor smiths in business. So forget your "remove vk's" idea, not gonna happen.

2) Hmm, what will making melee classes run faster solve ? Will melee mobs run faster also ? Faster you run more server side lag you get and more likely you will get "target out of range" message.

Range professions able to kite us but our damage isincreased to make up for not having ranged attacks, that is our trade off.

3) I remember reading in beta forumone of the Dev's post that they couldn't find any info on "tka is closely tied to the force". Is there any official proof to that ?

On point 1, I disagree. VKs are the single and ONLY weapon a TK can use. Even if they were "removed" from the weaponsmith's crafting, it would not unbalance the economy. I can name you five master weaponsmiths who have vendors that sell every pistol that can be made, every rifle that can be made, every carbine that can be made, multiple swords, multiple polearms/batons, and varying commando weapons and yet they have SINGLE-DIGIT or NO vibroknuckles. I have to manually request a pair to be made for me and even then it takes a day or three to get done. There is no economy effect here.

On point 2, it can be done very easy. An actual player has a flag on it that tells it's a legit player. An NPC wouldn't have this, they'd have the opposite. If the current target of a TK is an actual player and they're wielding a ranged weapon (easily determined in code), then the TK's running ability is something like 1.5x faster than the target. That's easily done and it doesn't disrupt NPC encounters. Reason I say don't even touch the NPCs is because even an NCP ranged attacker running will STOP occasionally whereas every ranged player out there kiting a TK will run like a little **edit** until the TK is dead, looking behind at the target, and firing with pinpoint accuracy with no problems.

Just thought I might put my opinions on these comments.

Love the idea of `steel hands`....this VK buisness is a bit...er..*Cough*

Does a martial arts master, versed in the ultimate form of unarmed combat in the entire universe, need to use something akin to a `knuckleduster`? its strange, for sure. And the trade off is ambiguous...but that doesnt mean its not there. We DO have that advantage, and if you honestly understand that, as well as how we are limited, I reckon you`ve just upped your chances that much higher.

I actually saw the classic case today: TKA Vs Novice pistoleer, or something...was hilarious. The TKA chased the dude all around the place, getting shot to ribbons...I kept telling her to stop following him, she of course took no notice of me, and was incapped twice, then deathblowed, for seemingly no reason.

Anyway....from what I can see (and dont take me too seriously, lol...I`m very newbish to this) the trade off is there, its just a lot clearer looking from a ranged view. Anyway...who wants to run away shooting? that looks seriously stupid, rofl...I would prefer to lose, knowing I could have taken that dude piece by piece, then win from running screaming and kiting, then being an idiot and deathblowing in a friendly duel.

Xenothrope, I think you should follow your own advice.

Perhaps before you say "TKA SHOULD HAVE _____" maybe think a little.

Vorli,

1)Devs plan to add more tka weapons. It doesn't matter how much VKs has effect on the economy atm, there has to be weapon degrade system for every combat profession.

2) It can be done but what will it fix ? Kitting is part of the game andin some way it balances ranged and melee professions. There has to be some kind of penalty for having power to kill someone in just few hits.

Slowing down ranged users or reducing accuracy while running is a much better fix imo.

Cobok, I can agree with that...on one hand, I'd love to have more than one singular weapon, but on the other hand, as I approach master TK, I don't want any so it's a 50/50, I guess. For unarmed masters, there shouldn't be a weapon degrade system simply because bare hands are our weapons. To make more weapons for TKs simply to adhere to the "weapon degrade" system doesn't add to the slight realism of what a TK is about, it simply allows us to have more weapons. If the damage and defense and speed and ranged bugs are all added accordingly, a 3 or 4th level TK (or master) isn't going to use VKs or any other "unarmed" weapon and we'll still be in the same boat, very very low numbers of available weapons just like it is now.

As for kiting being part of the game, I disagree there too and here's why. Kiting is brought about by the multiple specials able to be used by pistoleers/riflemen/etc. It was there from the start and hence, that's why people may think it's "part of the game". Why would KDs for TKs (especially) be nerfed, nulling out what the SWG strategy guide says and yet kiting doesn't have any caps like KDs do? It doesn't make sense. With KDs being unused as they are, it nulls out what even the developers have stated, that being "If a TK catches you, you're dead". A TK won't catch anyone running, period. They'd have to be either really stupid (the target) or banking everything on the kiting they can do, or the spamming of eyeshot (example) or the TK catches them totally by surprise (rare). The % of a TK catching someone and staying with them, right now, is negligible.

However, I'm excited to see what happens with the new update coming...the huge 350 page one, hehe and if these changes for TK go in, I'll be mega happy.

IMHO I think that a way to help pvp for us teras kasi..and even meleers... is two DRAMATICALLY decrease accuracy with a ranged weapon while kiting, or in other terms running from the enemy and shooting while looking back. Only at higher levels of elite ranged proffesions should ranged players should be able to attack with decent accuracy while kiting. This would give us much more of a chance in pvp.

Finally id like to add that wielding 2 weapons (gloves w/e) one in each hand, would be much better than only using one. It would give us more balance... since we are all about equilibrium and focus.

Cobok2002 - There has to be some kind of penalty for having power to kill someone in just few hits.

Heh - Let see - flame me and move on to new target, poison me and move on to new target, uhm, hit me for 2k dmg and move on to new target (thankfully this last one i get to let them hit me again since i will have my own doc buffers on me - well - less i get a bad buffer) and i guess w/ flame thrower i get some time too. Course - eye shot i'm nailed (3 shots max and i've got 1000 mind...) There is a mind bleed too??!? (sigh) So as far as "having the power to kill someone in just a few hits"I want that power too... not "i should be able to beat everyone in the universe up", i want to get a CHANCE to. =) After all - two BH's w/ eye shot on each other may be "equal" and a pistoleer and a carbineer etc... dif tactics.. dif moves... duck behind a house - whatever, but they at least do dmg to each other... last i checked.... "you are out of range" does no dmg.

I guess the penalty is ican never catch the person shooting over thier shoulder at me, so i'm balanced. (rofl)I don't know - you strategy guys are right -there is nothing that says i HAVE to chase them... other than when i stop chasing they stop running -=) Rofl. (not stop shooting... stop running) Running into buildings as far as i've seen is said to be cowardly... So pretty much less its a big battle that i getta sneak up on someone... i'm toast. (did scare the snot out of a owner of a ATST once... course - was kited and shot down... but i DID scare them... rofl)

That being said i don't PVP too terribly much and i enjoy my TK abilities a lot =) And everyonce and a while there is that startled pink person who suddenly realizes that they just /kneel'd and instead of stopping to shoot them s'more at ideal range... i kept commin at em and suddenly there wasn't blaster fire comming at them any more... OOPS. hehehe

1st: we are not tied to the force: we use OUR mindpower (med line)... in SW universe, EVERYBODY is tied to the force, and only Jedi could feel and/or use it

2nd: I agree about the removing of VK, but put any other weapon replacing it will make all a fake. BTW, if you check the Lucas fighting game Teras Kasi Something (doh!) you will see a TKA with a metallic arm/fist... devs! give us some spiked gloves!

-Novice: Rope-made gloves

-1st level on all skills: Rope-made gloves with glue (useless, but sticky... maybe to keep the shooters near us?)

-2nd level on all skills: Rope-made gloves with glueand some metal shards (ack! damage, damage!)

-3rd level on all skills: Rope-made gloves with glue, some metal shards and broken crystals (yuck!)

-4th level on all skills: Rope-made gloves with glue, some metal shards, broken crystals and rusty pieces of metal (yeah! tetanus disease!!)

-Master: some solvent to clean all that dirty mess... you are the ultimate close combatant... just sit down and look how you are kitted by a novice marksman

Just my 2cr... now i need more to maintain my dojo

Fobia, Wanderhome

-Brawler 3100 (sigh, what the hell did i with a knife all that time?)

-Medic 4224

-and some other skills ready to be surrendered

Yes, TKA sux, we hate devs, but all we still using our feet to kick some ass.es

P.S.: When I'm blinded... can i spread my legs, fall down and hit my opponent's @#~$s with my iron fist?

P.P.S.: Nope... I have not iron fist

P.P.P.S.: And my opponent don't expose its nuts (#"$·" womp rats!)

P.P.P.P.S.: And if i do that, my @#~$s will hurt a lot when they land on land...
