I have a question regarding defense versus dizzy, blind, stun, etc...

I just recently got Expert Balance Conditioning at the suggestion of another TK, over that of Expert Meditative. I saw that the bonuses gathered were pretty hefty, adding 10 to defense on blind, dizzy, and some others...I thought things were really going to be good. I train it, and head right back out to Dantooine Agro Outpost where my group and I have been destroying huurtons, voritors, pikets, etc...

This is where the problem starts. In all melee combat I'm in (I have no ranged, just pure TK), I watch my character bar very carefully to see how I can improve my attacks, field damage, and make sure my target is blind, dizzied, and stunned at all times (if possible). Hence, I notice when I get the occasional blind, intimidate, dizzy, or stun. Up until now, I didn't get those very often.

Well, after I got to EBC, I got blinded, stunned, and dizzied multiple times during combat with the same mobs that before couldn't pull those attacks off with much success. Seething bols were blinding me left and right, back to back...before, they might get one or two off during combat with three of them. What gives? Why is it actually worse now than before?

I'm just curious as to why, now after training to be better in balance conditioning, it seems to be worse. I've checked over the prior combat saves and I only got blinded, stunned, or dizzied less than 5 times. Now it happens every time I get into combat with a melee encounter.

Vorlin,

Dont feel so bad, I also have expert balance conditioning along with Master Pikeman.

I have +60 to Defense Vs Posture Change(down) and If anything or anyone does a Change Posture move on me, it lands every time. I have +40 To Def vs KD ...Bam KD whenever someone wants me down.

They really need to make the Defense mods actually work, we would have never had a problem with the KD timer in the first place if they actually worked.

I think they improved the AI, I noticed this a few days ago and I am only at Balance 2, Used to hardly get hit now get stun, blind and dizzy virtually every time now.

I am nearly at Balance 3, but I really don't think it wouldmake a big difference, as extra blind defence is not even in balance 3.

Think they need to increase the defensive values for melee (maybe they are already, will have to wait and see), not sure why but pistoleer seems to get the best defenses against these state attacks, even though melee fighters are going to be the ones getting hit with more state attacks.

Thank you both for the replies as it's good to see that it's not just me going through that. Benwin, it sucks that it seems that the higher you get in defensive mods (where we need them the most to work), the worse it appears to get. Rafed, agreed, maybe they did increase the AI but man, that was a fast update to their AI. It tells me that they simply don't check against our mods (or they're flat-out broke) and will win every time on a KD land or blind/stun/dizzy.

i can confirm that mobs and NPC are using lots more specials. I'm consistently getting "gut shot" by storm troopers for 700+ damage. Also getting lots more stuns blinds etc.

Another thing I don't understand is how I can be taking out an imperial sharpshooter and right when he's about to die, he switches to hand-to-hand and does Cho Mai or Cho Sun for 800 points of health damage (surprisingly enough, that was my lowest bar at the time). That's happened more than once. I don't mind melee fighting but if I just wasted the Imperial Major who did nothing but unarmed or polearm and I survived him, it doesn't seem quite right that at the last minute I'll be incapped and slain by an imperial sharpshooter who knows Cho Mai.
