I'm creating a PvP template and am going Master Rifleman / Master Heavy Swordsman. I will miss Master TKA so much, I am keeping 4004 no matter what, but what about the defensive tree? Should I get 0400 in tka or novice medic? The problem with this template is it has low defenses against KD and Dizzy. Would the defenses from TKA be better than Novice Medic?

In PvP Novice Medic is not going to be any benefit. However, in PvE it might. It just depends on your playstyle.

If you plan to always be buffed then there is no reason for Novice Med, and there really is not reason for it in PvP anyway. In PvP you need a Doctor for the heals (preferably Combat Medic actually, just for that nice Area Heal).
