Hey,

This is still in the early planning stages, but I was thinking about holding a TKA tournament on Lowca. I wanted to run some ideas I have had, and have gathered from the forum postings, and wanted to see what your thoughts, ideas, suggestions would be to change rules. Also, wanted to see if anyone would even be interested in it.

Location: I have a friend who has a Guild Hall as his home, and I was thinking that the rooftop of his home might be a great spot to hold it. Either that, or I am working on creating a TKA Dojo. I am unsure if you are able to fight inside a home if you are dueling. I am choosing Home-based locations so that it can be a controlled environment where we can be sure that no Overts or TEFs will interfere with it.

Uniforms: I will contract a Tailor to create tournament uniforms in order to eliminate the possibilty of an advantage someone may have by using clothing attachments or bio-engineered clothing. There will be an entry fee that will be used to offset the cost of the Uniforms, and all participants will be allowed to keep the uniform as a consolation prize. Anyone have suggestions on what type of clothing to use for a uniform? I am thinking either the Doctors Dresses that almost ALL TKAs wear, or maybe just a TK Skirt and some sort of shirt. Or maybe something else? Thoughts?

Buffs: This is still up in the air. It will be very hard to tell if someone is using food and drink to boost their stats, so I think I will just allow food and drink consumption, but we need to decide whether to allow or not allow buffed players. If we allow buffed players, then I will need to seek out a doctor to give buffs, and would probably have to pay the doctor for them (which means that the entry fee will increase). Or we can hold it without buffs.

Weapons: Because VKs can vary so greatly (especially when sliced) I will either choose to not allow VKs in matches, or I will contract a weaponsmith to create an identical VK for everyone (thus increasing the entry fee). The contestants will be allowed to keep the VKs as a consolation prize. The only downside to this is that if someone is TKA/Smuggler they could slice their VK unbeknownsed to us. So maybe I will just have 2 identical VKs made, and these same 2 will be used by ALL contestants (although then I won't know if someone switches to their personal VK during the battle).

Match Rules: Once I have compiled a list of all contestants, I will create a Tournament bracket and post it online for everyone to see. Each match will be done via duel (please come COVERT to the tournament). No pets are to be used. No other weapons (swords, stun batons, pikes, guns, etc.) are permitted. This is a stricktly TKA tournament. If you have some other profession that gives you some sort of defensive advantage, then you are not penalized for that. Each match will be a One on One duel. Each duel will be best 2 out of 3. Once your opponent is incapped, you are to move away from them and wait for them to get up. Myself, or another medic will fully heal the incapped player. Then I will begin the match again. First person to be incapped 2 times loses. DO NOT DEATHBLOW. IF YOU DEATHBLOW YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFED FROM THE TOURNAMENT AND YOUR OPPONENT WINS THE MATCH. Also, there is to be no healing during the matches. I am a TKM and Master Medic, and I am well aware of the HUGE advantage you can have in a fight with a set of good Stims.

Prize: I am still thinking of ideas for this. I do not want to just give away a monetary prize. What types of items would you like to see as the Grand Prize to be awarded to the winner? Credits? Rare Loot? Armor? Clothing? Weapons? There will also be a prize awarded to the loser of the final round, as that put him/her in second place. This prize will be a much lesser prize, but will be a better prize than the uniform (and possibly a VK if I go that route).

Advertising: Once everything for the tournament is finalized, I will pick a date to hold the tournament. I will place a posting for it here in the TKA forums, as well as listing it as a Player Event in the Lowca Forum. I also hope that once it is ready, you will speard the word to any TK buddies you may have that might not check the forums.

Help: If anyone is interested in helping me organize this tournament, please let me know, either by forum PM or by in-game email. My in-game name on Lowca is Oreet.

Time: I am usually online in the game weekday evenings after work (EST), and anytime on weekends. I will probably plan on having the tournament sometime on a Saturday or a Sunday, most likely it will be held in the evening.

Entry Fee: The Entry Fee amount will be determined by the Tailor's price for the uniforms, as well as the price of VKs if we choose to go that route. I am not doing this to turn a profit, I am merely doing this for something fun to do, and to meet new people, and to hold a player event. Community is one of the most important things about MMORGs so I figured this will hopefully be a real fun way to do this. On the day of the event, we will set the location of the tournament to have an Entry Fee on the building in order to collect your entry fee.

Sponsors: If any Businessmen and women would be interested in sponsoring this event, by donating or selling uniforms/weapons/food/decorations or anything else, please let me know. The clothing or any other item provided for the tournament should have your Business name as well as Coordinates to your vendor on them, so that you can drum up some business for your vendors from the Contestants. If anyone is interested, we could also have some players selling stuff there. Such as a Weaponsmith, Armorsmith, Tailor, Chef, or anyone who might be interested in selling items to contestants, please let me know. This will most likely be held on the roof of a Guild Hall, so there will be plenty of room for you to spread around and offer your wares to the contestants. Any businesses wanting to sell items during the the tournament (and not participate in the tournament) will be given free admission into the building in order to set up shop. (possibly will allow you to set up a vendor, but might have to resort to just using the Secure Trade System to complete your sales).

Spectators: I am still considering if I want to charge a ticket price for spectators to come and watch the event. If I do this, the tickets will only cost somewhere between 100-500 credits, but would help offset the cost of the event. If I do it this way, I will need to not charge the Tournament Entry Fee at the door, and just charge the amount of the ticket price, then I will subtract that ticket price from the Entry Fee and have all contestants tip me the entry fee.

Name: I am still trying to think of a good name for the Tournament. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

As you can see, I have put a lot of thought into this event so far, and I would love for this to be a HUGE success. If it is well recieved, then I may hold these ever 2 or 3 months or so.

If anyone has any suggestions, critisizim, thoughts, ideas, or whatever, please let me know. I would like to get this thing going soon, maybe sometime in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Thanks,
Able-kain
