I made a Novice Pistoleer on the TC. I wish to become a Fencer as well, so I decided to test the system without using blue frogs.

Currently, I am CL14. With the new weapon system, I can use a Curved Sword which only requires I be CL14. This enabled me to kill CL12 Weequay thugs and CL12 Jundland eopies for fair and efficient exp. It makes it possible for me to work my way to Novice Fencer.

Now if I wish to become a Smuggler, Commando or TK, I am in trouble. I am CL14 because I am a Novice Pistoleer. I am forced to fight npcs in the CL 12-14 range in order to get decent exp. Both the Vibroknuckler and the Massassi Knuckler are CL14. Unfortunately, I am unable to use the Vibroknuckler because it also requires Novice TK to use. The Massassi Knuckler requires Novice Commando. Thus, I am stuck doing CL 1 damage with my bare fists to CL 12-14 npcs, greatly hindering my capacity to advance in Unarmed.

Under further testing, I attempted to solo a CL8 thug near Bestine using my fists. I was only able to do 36 damage per round to this 1300 health NPC and after a few minutes I still was not able to get my opponent's health less than halfway down. I had to finish it off with my pistol.

As far as I can see, if I want to get by this I would have had to work on Unarmed before pursuing any other combat skills. My other choice is to drop Novice Pistoleer then work Unarmed. Both of these instances should not be choices we have to make.

I forsee this being a problem much later as well. What happens when you are a Master Elite and your CL is 54+ and you want to work on TK? Will you be able to get past Novice TK using a CL14 Vibroknuckler against CL54+ enemies? Because TK's have less Unarmed weapons to utilize throughout the various CL's, it appears to become problematic the later you work on TK and the higher your CL rises.

The other professions do not seem to suffer this problem as much since there are higher CL weapons people can use. TK's only currently have two - the Novice and Master knuckles.

This is the problem... what are some solutions?
